I'm walking 30 miles in September
My wonderful father-in-law was diagnosed with vascular dementia in November 2024 and, in August 2025, we faced the extremely difficult decision to move him into specialised dementia care.
The support from Admiral Nurses has been invaluable. They help families like mine with advice and guidance through the daily challenges of caring for a loved one with dementia. They help us navigate this extremely complex and emotional journey. Their support is both practical and personal — but there simply aren’t enough of them.
In the UK, it’s estimated that around 850,000 people have been diagnosed with dementia, with a further 130,000 undiagnosed. Around 20–25% of those diagnosed are living with vascular dementia.
This September, I’m walking 30 miles to raise funds for families affected by dementia. I would be deeply grateful for your support.
- £8 could cover the telephone costs for two families seeking help through Dementia UK’s free Helpline.
- £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, providing practical solutions and emotional support to a family in need.
Every step I take will be for families like ours. Thank you for helping to make a difference.
