🌟 Help Me Make a Difference for Dementia UK 🌟

Dear friends and family,

I am reaching out with a heartfelt mission. In October 2025, I have committed to walking 62 miles in memory of my beloved father, who passed away in May 2021 after battling dementia. This journey is deeply personal, and I want to honor his memory while raising funds for Dementia UK, an organization dedicated to supporting those affected by this challenging condition.

This will be the second time I am supporting this cause. It remains close to my heart, and I feel even more determined to make a positive impact with each step I take. Dementia touches countless lives, and through this effort, I aim to contribute to research and support that can help others facing similar struggles. Every step I take will be for my dad and for the many families dealing with the impact of dementia every day.

I invite you to support this important cause. Whether it’s through a donation, spreading the word, or simply offering words of encouragement, your support means the world to me.

Together, we can make a difference and support Dementia UK in their vital work. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

With love and gratitude,
Jaffey Chacko❤️

Day 8: Walking with Purpose and Reflecting on 'Look Out'

Thursday 9th Oct

Today’s walk brought new reflections on the theme "Look Out," drawn from Philippians 2:3-4. This verse calls us to live with humility, esteeming others above ourselves and prioritizing their needs. Along the route, I passed several "Look Out" notices at roundabouts—an everyday reminder to pay attention, not just for safety, but also in life. Much like these signs, the call to "look out" in Scripture prompts us to be mindful, focusing on those around us with care and compassion. Walking for Dementia UK embodies this idea as I step forward with a purpose beyond myself to support families facing dementia’s challenges.

These "Look Out" roundabout signs also served as a poignant metaphor. They emphasize the importance of awareness—just as we must stay alert to navigate traffic safely, we are called to actively notice and support those in need. Dementia UK exemplifies this spirit, offering care through their Admiral Nurses who guide families through their struggles. Passing these signs reminded me that life is full of opportunities to "look out" for others, and every donation and act of kindness magnifies this purpose. Together, we can embody humility, compassion, and action, making a meaningful difference one step at a time.

Walking for a Cause: Supporting Dementia UK

Tuesday 7th Oct
For the past two days, I’ve stayed dedicated to my walks in support of Dementia UK, reflecting on the struggles faced by those living with dementia and their families. This morning, my wife Jolly joined me for a peaceful two-mile walk, making it a wonderful shared moment and a reminder of the importance of connection and resilience.

Walking for this cause has been humbling, as it highlights the strength of those facing such challenges daily. I’m grateful for all the encouragement and support along the way—every step we take together helps raise awareness and makes a difference for this vital cause.

A Sunday Morning Walk for a Greater Cause

Sunday 5th Oct

This Sunday morning, as the sun rose with a warmth that seemed to wrap the world in light, I set out on my fifth day of walking for Dementia UK. The bright, sunny skies accompanied me, filling my heart with hope and purpose as I walked not only to support an incredible cause but also to reflect on the opportunities God has given me to make a difference. Each step felt meaningful, a small yet significant contribution to countless families facing the challenges of dementia. The beauty of the morning reminded me of God’s faithfulness, where even amidst struggles, His creation speaks of peace and renewal.

As I made my way to church, I reflected on how this mirrored the message preached by Evangelist N. K. Thomas during worship. He spoke passionately about the theme, "People of God: Conveyors of God's Love," drawing lessons from the Gospel of Luke and the parable of the Good Samaritan. The story of love, compassion, and selflessness resonated deeply with me during this walk, reminding me that our faith calls us to be vessels of God’s love—to serve and care for others in tangible ways. Though the journey is physical, its spiritual impact is profound—feeling His presence in every step as I prepared my heart for deeper worship and reflection on His unending goodness.

Embracing a Windy Morning Walk

Saturday 4th Oct

This morning, as we started our day, Jolly (my wife) was on her way to the Diocesan Ladies Wing meeting. We walked together to see her off, despite the howling winds of Storm Amy. The sun broke through the clouds, casting a warm light that made each step enjoyable, reminding me of the beauty life can offer, even in tumultuous times.

As I continued my walk, my thoughts turned to friends and families facing the struggle of dementia, and I felt immense gratitude for all the gracious donors supporting this cause. Their generosity plays a crucial role in providing resources and hope for those affected. With each breath of fresh air, I also reflected on my own health and the clarity of mind I sometimes take for granted, hoping to extend support and connection to those navigating this difficult path.

Pushing Through Rainy Days: Staying Focused on the Challenge

Friday 3rd Oct
Today brought wet and gloomy weather, and with Storm Amy set to visit this weekend, the journey ahead looks uncertain. Despite the challenging conditions, I was determined to complete my part of the challenge for the day. It’s never easy to push forward when the elements work against you, but the motivation from my colleagues, friends, and family keeps me focused and committed to this cause. Their unwavering support reminds me of the strength in community and purpose. Every encouraging word fuels my determination to continue this meaningful journey. Rain or shine, challenges may come, but being surrounded by such incredible support makes the path ahead feel achievable. For that, I am truly grateful.

Walking for Dementia UK – 62 Miles of Hope

Thursday 2nd Oct

This morning marked another step in my 62-mile journey to raise awareness and funds for Dementia UK. As I walked amidst the crisp autumn air and the beauty of falling leaves, I couldn’t help but reflect on the importance of this cause. Every mile I cover is a reminder of the challenges faced by families affected by dementia and the vital support provided by Dementia UK’s expert Admiral Nurses.

The walk was peaceful, filled with the sounds of nature and the crunch of leaves underfoot, but my thoughts were with those who are navigating the complexities of dementia. I’m grateful for every contribution and every step that brings us closer to making a difference. Thank you for your support—together, we can create a brighter future for those impacted by this condition.

A Purposeful Start to My Dementia Charity Walk

Wednesday 1st Oct

This morning, I began my charity walk for dementia with a heart full of gratitude and purpose. My daughter, Anna, kicked off the day with a supportive and heartfelt prayer, inspiring me as I dropped her at the bus stop and set off on my one-mile journey. This challenge, taken on after a brief pause, feels especially meaningful as it supports a cause that touches so many lives. Every step I take is a reminder of the resilience and strength of those living with dementia and their families.

I’m deeply thankful for the opportunity to contribute to this important cause and for the unwavering encouragement of my loved ones, especially my Late Father. This walk isn’t just about the distance—it’s about raising awareness, fostering compassion, and making a difference. Together, we can create a future where dementia is met with understanding and care. Join me in supporting this vital cause, one step at a time.

A heartfelt thank you to my brothers who believed in me and generously donated in advance. Your support means the world and fuels my determination to make a difference. Together, we’re taking meaningful steps toward a brighter future for those affected by dementia. Thank you for your kindness and faith in this cause.
