I'm walking 30 miles in September

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

My reason for signing up

I chose to do this fundraiser for many personal reasons, firstly for my Nan who developed it in her 90’s.  Then for my Mother in law who is 89 and has been really struggling with it over the last couple of years in particular. Then my dear friend ‘Auntie Ellen Ruby Stardust’ who is 76 and now living in full time nursing care.

Other family members have sadly lost their lives to it, my Nan’s sister, my Great Auntie Emily and my Mum’s cousin, my Auntie Christine and her sister in Australia Denise.  My Auntie Helen’s Husband Bob. 

Lots of my best friends have supported or still are supporting their loved family members battle with the syndrome too, you know who you are.

Being a caregiver for many years  has made it hard for me to have the time to look after myself too.  I used to do Zumba but have only had time for Pilates. So this was also an incentive to get involved with this challenge too.  After all I am not getting any younger and seeing what I have witnessed is certainly an incentive to take care of my body as I age.

I haven’t done any personal fundraising since I did my Breast Cancer Care Walk over 15 years ago and a Cancer Research fundraiser clothes swap party with a few friends over 10 years ago so hopefully people can help me raise some money for this worthy cause.  It doesn’t have to be a lot, anything will be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks to those who have already donated to my page ❤️
