I'm taking on the October Dog Walking Challenge

I’m walking 75 miles with my dog Harriet this October and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Dementia is truly horrible for those affected and their families. Please cheer me on and donate to support the cause if you can.

Thank you!

Weekly Update

Tuesday 7th Oct
We have now completed 34 miles. Last week was tough because of the bad weather and a couple of walks can only be described as 'savage amusement'. We still managed to see a couple of nice beach sunrises and we spotted oyster catchers and a toad. This week we are trying to cover more distance each walk to help us reach our target on time. I have also made some changes this week and have added safety lights to Harriet' harness fo the dark morning's, we have a new bungee lead to reduce the burn in my arms when she pulls and I have a new battery for my heated jacket. It's getting cold!

Update 1

Sunday 28th Sep
Just over 12 miles walked so far and 63 miles still to go. This week we have done Northumberlandia, Stakeford to Sheepwash and back, Westlea, Humford and a couple of walks at Cambois. We have been lucky with the weather and also the wildlife spotting, herrons cormorants, and I managed to get a blurred image of a Kingfisher too. Harriet seems to be loving exploring different places.  Don't let the teddy bear look fool you though, this puppy is no lap dog and has a lot of energy. It is still the right decision to stay safe with her walk times and spread the distance over a longer period of time. Lots more walking and exploring to do this week. Please sponsor us if you can. Dementia is a horrible and cruel disease and Dementia UK work hard to support families who need help.

We started the Dementia UK Dog Walking Challenge this morning!

Wednesday 24th Sep
This morning, we started the Dementia Dog Walking Challenge at our favourite haunt 'Cambois Beach'. It was a moody grey dawn and the tide was in but we covered 2.16 miles in an hour. Not very fast but we have to stop to talk to folk as we go.  A great start for us!

Why have I started early? Its not October yet?
Most of my friends will know that Harriet is only 7 months old and not yet fully grown. It means that I cannot walk her longer than an hour at a time. So to keep the challenge safe and fun for her, we are starting eary and spreading the distance over more days. We may not finish the full 75 mile distance until a few days into November. I will post updates every few days and include some nice photos as we go.

Please cheer us on and if you are able to, please donate to my page.
Thankyou!
