I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Why I’m doing it..

Monday 29th Sep

This year, I’m taking part in the Walk for Dementia, and my reason is simple: I’m walking for my best friend’s grandad.

I’ve seen firsthand the impact dementia can have—not only on the person living with it but on the whole family. Watching my best friend go through this journey with her grandad has opened my eyes to just how much it changes daily life. It’s the little things: the frustration when words don’t come, the moments of confusion, and the emotional weight that falls on those who love and care for him.

For my friend, it’s been heartbreaking to watch someone she’s so close to slowly change. I’ve seen how strong she and her family have been, but also how much support and understanding are needed. Dementia doesn’t just affect one person—it ripples out to everyone around them.

That’s why this walk means so much to me. It’s a way to stand beside my best friend and her family, to honour her grandad, and to raise awareness for the thousands of other families going through the same thing. It’s about showing that they’re not alone, and that together we can push for more research, more resources, and more hope.

Every step I take is for her grandad, for her family, and for every family learning to live with dementia. If you’d like to support, whether by donating, joining the walk, or simply sharing the message, it would mean so much.

Thank you.
