This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

As some of you already know, dementia has touched my family too - my mum has been affected by this cruel disease.

Never in my life did I imagine that I would have to go through something like this, and I never imagined just how hard it would be to face. Not even when we first received my mum’s diagnosis did I truly understand what lay ahead. But as time went by, things became harder and harder to cope with, both emotionally and mentally.

There was also a time when the emotional weight became too much for me, and I found myself calling Dementia UK simply because I needed someone to talk to. Sometimes, having someone there to listen really does make a difference.

So, this September, I’ll be walking 30 miles for Dementia UK. It may seem like a small thing, but for me, it means something deeply personal. It’s the least I can do for a cause that has supported me and so many other families facing dementia.
