I'm walking 30 miles in September for Dementia UK

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

My mum was diagnosed with dementia a couple of  years ago  but this year  has been challenging & we have had to make difficult decisions around her care.

Dementia has changed our family, watching a person change in front of your eyes is  difficult & upsetting.

Its a world we never thought we’d be part of & a massive learning curve for us all. Information& support is so important.

Families need support around this disease as they journey alongside their loved ones dementia.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Day 11

Thursday 11th Sep
Its been a tricky few days but this challenge is as much for me as it is mum. I have my own health problems but nothing compared to mums journey.
Below is a picture of mum, im visiting her this weekend its been a couple of weeks as i live 3 hours away. Each time I worry she wont recognise me at all. The last few times I’ve had to remind her who I am & then theres a-smile a flicker of recognition …. My heart knows one day there wont be!

But for now I remain positive & look forward tomy visit.

4th day of walking a mile a day

Thursday 4th Sep
Today i was delighted to be joined by my best friend & her beautiful guide dog Pat. She is always in my corner & supports me through thick & thin!

First walk of the month

Monday 1st Sep
We (my lovely husband is walking with me) took a beautiful  sun filled evening stroll through our nearby park. The sun was bathing the place with a yellowy glow. It made me appreciate that I can wander safely & appreciate nature something many dementia people are unable to do without support.

As we entered our street we were greeted with a beautiful rainbow … a symbol of hope & love.
