I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

In memory of my Dad, but I have also had a list of names of other Dementia sufferers, that I've paid tribute to during this month, and who have helped me on my virtual tag team. Wow thank you to everyone who has donated before I've even started! I won't let you down!

So I've decided that I will post regular videos on my Facebook, with updates on how I'm doing as well as sharing some stories of my experience of dementia to help create awareness of it. It's a disease that doesn't just affect those diagnosed with it, but it hurts every one around them. There can be funny moments however, and I will share those too! Thank you for all the encouragement. It won't be easy for me as the only walking that I do is generally from the front door to the car and I'm starting with problems with my hip, so the challenge is on!

My Mum had lewy body dementia attributed to her Parkinson's . Mum still recognised us and herself and retained her sense of humour : it was a 'kinder' form of dementia. Many forms of this condition are the cruellest of afflictions .Heather you a women to admire and I wish you all the best XXX
