I'm making Time for a Cuppa

By the time you've made your brew, another person will have developed dementia. I'm going to bake, brew and raise vital funds for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £21 could pay for the telephone costs of four families calling our free Helpline whenever they need support. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support. I am really grateful for any support you can give.

Thank you!

A Cuppa for my Mum

Sunday 27th Sep

Just a few days ago, our family received the news that my lovely mum has Alzheimer’s.

Although we knew something wasn’t quite right, hearing the actual diagnosis out loud was still incredibly difficult. Mum has always been Mum, and she still is. Funny, loving, stubborn, glamorous and very much herself. A diagnosis doesn’t change that.

But it does mean that, as a family, we’re beginning a journey none of us ever expected to be on.

So I’ve decided to host a Time for a Cuppa tea morning in honour of Mum, raising money for Dementia UK.

It feels like such a simple thing,  getting people together for tea, cake, a chat and probably far too much food…but it’s also a way of turning something that has made us feel quite helpless into something positive.

Dementia UK’s specialist Admiral Nurses support families living with dementia, not only the person who has been diagnosed but the people who love and care for them too. I’m beginning to understand just how important that support can be.

I’ve set myself a target of £300. Every donation, however small, would mean so much to me and my family and will help Dementia UK be there for another family when they suddenly find themselves where we are now.

This one is for you, Mum. ❤️

Come for a cuppa, eat some cake and help us make a difference. ☕🍰💗
