Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

Thank you

Saturday 31st Jan
91 miles walked since 1 January 2026. £1042 raised for Dementia Uk thanks to the generous donations of family and friends and friends of friends. As I walked I remembered those people  living with this terrible illness,  those that care for them every day and above all those loved ones lost to the illness. Your money will make a difference ❤️ thank you

Saturday 31st Jan
Final day of the challenge Im at 90 miles. Blownn away by the generosity of family and friends who have sponsored me to raise  funds for this brilliant charity.

80 mile mark

Saturday 24th Jan
So today,  and in the company of my wife and some of my great friends,  I reached a total of 80 miles walking since 1 January. My right knee hurts, my feet are sore but its nothing compared to the challenges of those living with dementia and their loved ones who care for them. This is for all of you ❤️

70 mile mark

Monday 19th Jan
So this morning i have achieved a total of 70 miles despite a dodgy knee in recent days (old injury  triggered by increased exercise). But the cause is so important I'll keep going with the fund raising.

Memory walk List

Sunday 28th Dec
I have a 'memory walk' list of people who are living with dementia and their families and a list of those lost to the disease. I'll remember these people while I'm walking my 50 miles  in January, my own family included. If anyone wants to add anyone to my memory list just message me. I'd be honoured to walk in their name ❤️

Great walk

Monday 22nd Dec
Lovely 4 mile walk today in great conditions.

Play list

Saturday 20th Dec
Some of my friends are creating a 50 mile playlist for me in January. All suggestions welcome...obvious ones: 'Walking on sunshine'; 'Walk 50(0) miles'...

In training

Tuesday 16th Dec
So did my first proper walk today in perfect conditions. Dry,  mild weather (unusual for December). Enjoyed the park, the dogs walkers passing me, etc. 2.5 miles banked. Feeling inspired.
