I'm cycling 300 miles for Dementia UK
In 2021, my mum was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, and sadly, she passed away in February 2025. Watching her gradually lose her independence, mobility, and the joy she found in spending time with family and friends was a heartbreaking journey for all of us. In time, we had to make the difficult decision for her to be cared for in a local care home.
The individuals who support those living with dementia deserve the highest praise. Their unwavering patience, compassion, and dedication - while always preserving the dignity of those they care for - made an immeasurable difference to Mum and to us.
I’m taking on this small cycling challenge in honour of my mum - to celebrate her life, her unwavering love for two sons, and to raise awareness of this cruel and devastating condition. Every mile is for her, and for the countless others affected by Lewy Body Dementia.
