Walk 31 Miles in May 2026

I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

I did it!

Sunday 31st May
💙💗 I did it! 💗💙

When I signed up for Dementia UK's "Walk 31 Miles in May" challenge, I hoped I could reach the target. Somehow, I ended up walking 62.53 miles - more than double what I set out to do. 31 miles for Dad, 31 miles for Mum 💗

Every step had a purpose.

This challenge gave me time to think, remember, reflect, and sometimes just put one foot in front of the other on days when dementia felt especially close to home. I miss my dad every day, and watching my mum face the same disease is something I find difficult to put into words. Dementia changes so much, not just for the person living with it, but for everyone who loves them.

One walk in particular will stay with me. As dusk was falling, I walked to visit my dad's grave. When I arrived, my breath was completely taken away. The cemetery seemed to glow in the fading light, illuminated by fairy lights, solar lights and lanterns left by families remembering their loved ones. It was such a beautiful, peaceful sight. In that moment I felt sadness, love, comfort and connection all at once. It reminded me that grief is shared by so many people, and that remembrance can be incredibly beautiful.

That's why charities like Dementia UK matter so much. Their Admiral Nurses provide expert support to families facing dementia, helping people navigate the practical and emotional challenges that come with the disease. The work they do is invaluable.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me, encouraged me, listened to me talk about my walks, or followed my progress throughout May. Your generosity and support helped turn every mile into something meaningful.

62.53 miles completed.
Countless memories carried with me.
And a cause that will always have a place in my heart. ❤️

Walking for my mum and dad

Monday 20th Apr
This May, I’m taking on the challenge of walking 31 miles for Dementia UK.
Two years ago, I lost my dad to dementia. He lived with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia, and watching him change was one of the hardest things our family has faced.
In the very same year we said goodbye to him, my mum was diagnosed with the same conditions. She is now in the mid-stages of Alzheimer’s mixed with vascular dementia. Facing this journey again is incredibly tough, there are moments that feel all too familiar, and others that bring new challenges.
That’s why this walk means so much to me.
Dementia UK has been a lifeline for my family. Their specialist Admiral Nurses have supported me through the uncertainty, helped me understand the changes in both my parents, and given me guidance when I needed it most.
So this May, every mile I walk is for my dad, for my mum, and for every family going through this.
If you’re able to donate, I’d be so grateful. And if not, sharing this means just as much. 💙

Thank you to my Sponsors
