I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour

My grandad has dementia and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone sometimes he has good days but some days are bad but he has a great team who look after him and a lovely dementia advisor. So please if you can support this charity because everyone deserves to support those with dementia.

Thank you!

The reason I’m raising for dementia uk

Tuesday 28th Apr
Dementia doesn’t just affect one person it touches the whole family. It’s something I see up front everyday as I care for my grandad who has always been like a dad to me such an important person in my life and now it’s my turn to be there for him. I’ve been there  from the first diagnosed having dementia which was hard for him to come to terms with.

Caring for someone with dementia can be challenging sometimes. There are moments of confusion, repetition and change that can be hard to navigate.

But there are also moments of connection my grandad tells me story’s from his life. Tells me story’s of my childhood he still gives me advice when I’m down he may not remember them all but going to see him consistently he has never forgot who I am and I’m soo lucky to have him in my life. He’s bed bound and always wants to get out of bed and this year will be the year he’s hoisted out of bed for me to take him in his garden. A garden he once loved and I’ve been working hard on for his one wish to come to life . He forgets he’s been hoisted before but I’m there giving him encouragement to keep going as we need to make sure hes safe to do it

Even though some days can be hard it’s affected my life completely and I wouldn’t change it for the world because he was always there for me and now I’m there for him.  Every day is a challenge but every moment with him is worth it.

So please I ask even if u can donate £1 it’s something to go to a good cause because there are so many people with dementia out there that need all the help they can. I’m going to cherish all the moments I have left with him as I made a promise to my nan to always be there for him.

Always be good to the people who have always been good to you.
