I'm walking 30 miles in September

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. As a family we know how hard this can be for both the person with dementia and their family and friends. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Please only donate what you feel you can - just your support to get off my backside and walk everyday is real support!!

Thank you!

Emma xx

Final day - day 30

Tuesday 30th Sep
So today was a walk around the Nottingham Forest ground where Bethan had a netball presentation. What a great way to finish the month of walking! Thank you again for all your support. I will carry on walking as it’s been a good thing physically for me to do. I am sure dad will appreciate it - just got to catch him on a good day!

Extra walk today

Monday 29th Sep

Day 29

Monday 29th Sep
Morning walk today and wearing the Dementia UK T-shirt.

Day 28

Sunday 28th Sep
I must try walking in daylight as it was pitch black tonight - didn’t meet a soul.

Day 27

Saturday 27th Sep
Today was a gentle walk around the village and reached my 40-mile target. Will keep going for the next few days. But thank you again. With gift aid I have reached just over £400

Days 24 - 26

Saturday 27th Sep
The back hasn’t stopped me doing a mile each day but having to do it in small chunks. Last night’s was fun - never been so relieved to see 0.99 become 1.00!! Thanks for all your support.

Day 23

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Hard day today as I have put my back out. I did the mile in 3 stages throughout the day. Good to keep moving but I look 5’ tall not 6’ 😂
Hoping to be better tomorrow as nearly there with walking 30 days.

Day 22

Monday 22nd Sep
Night walk in the village. Not a soul in sight.

Day 21

Sunday 21st Sep
Different route today - amazing view across the Vale as the sun was setting.

Day 20

Saturday 20th Sep
Day at Loughborough university with Bethan. Lots of walking! Reached my target of 30 miles today so I have increased it to 40.

Days 17/18/19

Friday 19th Sep
Boring few days I am afraid and so I have been walking around the village each day. Hoping to do my walking elsewhere this weekend, but it’s all netball netball netball (B playing and  me watching!).
Blog says I have 2 miles to go but will carry on walking to the end of September (and beyond!) enjoying the daily get out.

Day 16

Tuesday 16th Sep
Working from home so a blowy but sunny stroll on my own. Enjoying getting out every day! Met no one today - was I the only one crazy enough to be out in the wind?

Day 15

Monday 15th Sep
Very windy walk today! Felt I cheated a little as wind was blowing me along 😂😂

Day 13 and 14

Sunday 14th Sep
So yesterday wax’s university drop off day - walked around Liverpool to do the mile. Today back home, it was a v late one - interesting route! At 10pm on my own I stuck to the street lit areas of the village! Had to dodge the storm ☔️

Day 11 and Day 12

Friday 12th Sep
Day 11 - late night walk with Callum - he’s now off to uni. Day 12 - walking to meet a friend then walking while new tyres fitted.

Day 10

Wednesday 10th Sep
If you go down to the woods today…….

Day 9

Tuesday 9th Sep
B joined me on the walk tonight. Talked non-stop. Nice to have company though .

Day 8

Monday 8th Sep
Not sure what I have drawn there? Walk on my own in the dark. Peaceful

Day 7 Sunday 7th

Monday 8th Sep
Walk in the dark with B

Day 6

Saturday 6th Sep
Tired from yesterday so back to the 1-mile walk today! Thai time with C! (He was on a scooter!)

Day 5 - day out to Dublin! 5th Sep

Saturday 6th Sep
So for Daniel’s 21st I took him to Dublin for lunch! Fantastic extreme day out and remembered to record some of the walking! 5 miles+ today.

Day 4 - Thursday 4th

Friday 5th Sep
Easy walk to Asda and back today.

Day 3

Wednesday 3rd Sep
Walked in the dark tonight as late back with B. She was fun - thought there were people in the bushes in the dark waiting for us , then got stung by nettles. I had a lovely walk 😜

Day 2

Tuesday 2nd Sep
It was getting dark - blitzed this walk with B again.

Bethan joined me on day 1

Monday 1st Sep
Didn’t quite walk none stop - a few chats along the way with neighbours - oops.

Day 1

Monday 1st Sep
Thank you to the recent donations. I have made my increased goal of £250.
Will start the walking today…. All day meeting online so will be good to get off this chair!

First goal met!

Monday 25th Aug
Thank you so much to friends and family who have helped me reach my first goal of £200.
You have all been so generous and it means a lot to us as a family and also to Dementia UK. Best get those routes planned (with a coffee shop at end of it 😜). X
