Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

End of the challenge - 50 miles complete.

Saturday 31st Jan
Well it’s 31st January and the 50 miles are complete. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone for the love, support and most importantly for donating to this cause. It is greatly appreciated. ❤️ Today also marks a year from dad was laid to rest. So Robyn and I went to visit his grave and laid some flowers which tipped me just over the 50 mile mark and what a spot to complete it. Remembering you always, daddy dearest. Missing you so much. Lots of love your wee chuckles and baby Robyn ❤️ My loves, my life, my world ❤️

One year without our daddy dearest

Tuesday 27th Jan
On Saturday it was a year since we said the hardest goodbye to our daddy dearest. It has been the hardest year for many reasons but not having him here made it so much harder. At the weekend we went away as a family, one of his favourite things to do. We went into Newcastle and went to the amusements. I searched Newcastle for some whippy ice cream but all the machines were off. 🥺 so we settled for his next favourite a McFlurry and a strawberry milkshake. We had a Chinese, his favourite takeaway. He was greatly missed and it just did not feel the same without you. They say robins are a sign from a loved one in heaven. We have been seeing robins everywhere and I think he picked and sent our little Robyn to help us through this year. I will make sure she recognises his pictures and hears lots of stories about him. She looks so like him which brings me so much happiness. Here’s hoping she has his curly hair. 🤣 I am very close to completing the 50 miles, any support and donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you ❤️ My loves, my life, my world. Forever missed, forever loved. ❤️

Walk 3

Wednesday 7th Jan
Back today for walk 3. We had to take a break for a couple of days due to snow/ ice and weather warnings. Today we did exactly 4 miles, which makes the total so far 9.09 miles. Almost 1/5 of the way complete. Thank you again for all the continued support. ❤️

Walk 2

Saturday 3rd Jan
2.75 miles today. Total so far 5.09 miles.

First walk complete

Thursday 1st Jan

Family support

Wednesday 31st Dec
Thank you so much to my amazing family for helping me go beyond my fundraising goal of £100. I appreciate your support greatly.

Tomorrow is the beginning of my challenge . Any suggestions of nice places to go on walks for Robyn and I is welcomed 🥰

I will hopefully do as many updates as possible throughout January.

Dad

Thursday 25th Dec
I have decided to walk 50 miles in January for Dementia UK in memory of my dad, my pops who sadly passed away this year on 24th January 2025.  Today was our first Christmas without him and it was incredibly difficult for us all and just not the same. We often reflect on our happy memories with dad but we also reflect on the tough times we had and what got us through. I would love to make sure people have support  going  through what we did with my dad.

They often say that robins are sign from heaven  or appear when loved ones are  near. I have my daughter, Robyn, who sadly didn’t get to meet my dad but together we will be doing the 50 miles . We would love your support and if you could donate it would be greatly appreciated. I would love to be able to meet my target of £100  by my dad’s 1st anniversary  on the 24th. Your help would mean so much. Thank you.
