I'm walking 62 Miles in October for Dementia UK
🚶♀️ 62 MILES FOR DEMENTIA UK THIS OCTOBER ❤️
So, a lot of people who know me will know that I am probably the most unfit person in the world. 😂 I refuse to walk anywhere if I can possibly avoid it and, quite frankly, I’m lazy!
However… my brother has just run a 10K race, so surely I can manage to WALK 62 MILES IN A MONTH… right?! 😂🚶♀️
But there’s a much bigger reason behind why I’m doing this. ❤️
My beloved Grandad lost his battle with dementia a couple of years ago, and I’m now watching my Nan slowly slip through my fingers with the same awful disease. I’m lucky if she remembers who I am. Most of the time, she thinks I’m one of her carers. 💔
And as if that wasn’t enough, I’m also a nurse in a care home for people living with dementia, so this is something that is incredibly close to my heart.
I’m taking on this challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, to help make sure no family has to face dementia alone.
I’m doing this challenge partly for myself — to prove that the person who hates walking can actually get out there and walk 62 miles! 😂 — but if I can raise some money for a cause that means so much to me at the same time, then that makes it even more worthwhile. ❤️
And to make things even more interesting, if I reach my £250 fundraising target before October, I’ll increase the challenge from 62 miles to 100 miles! 🚶♀️🔥
Even a small donation can make a difference. £33 could fund a Dementia UK Admiral Nurse to spend an hour supporting a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support when they need it most.
So I’m asking friends, family, and even those of you who may have just stumbled across this post — if you’re able to, please consider making a donation. ❤️
And if you can’t donate, please share this post instead. Every share could help me reach someone who is able to.
Thank you so much for supporting me, cheering me on and helping me turn 62 miles of walking into something really meaningful. 🥹❤️
