I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Final day

Friday 31st Oct
Yay! I wanted 3 miles so I put on my coat and went on the long walk I wanted to do earlier this week. I then just carried on walking…I bumped into Stanley and Helen so stopped for a short natter then carried on! 113 miles in a month is pretty brilliant if I do say so myself, next year I’ll aim for 124 just to double the 62 recommended.

Day 30

Thursday 30th Oct
Lots of walking in Liverpool today. Such a lovely day walking a round the Albert Dock with my nephew. Tomorrow is the final day, it’s due to rain but I’d like 2 miles just to round my total up nicely 🤞🏻

Day 29

Wednesday 29th Oct
I had the most beautiful lazy day today! I walked a round the block first thing then simply pottered around my home. These 2 miles are probably my favourite to date! Tomorrow Elliot and I are heading into Liverpool, hopefully that’ll clock up a few more miles.

Day 28

Tuesday 28th Oct
I planned on a 6 mile walk today however as per usual the universe thought otherwise! I needed to pop to work a couple of times to have a piano delivered that I’d found on marketplace a couple of weeks ago. So not many miles done, but a new piano for school!

Day 27

Monday 27th Oct
More walking today, I’m happy with this 3.5 miles, it’s more than I’d planned to do in a day (once I’d reached 100 miles) Tomorrow I’m meeting friends for coffee, weather depending, I may or may not go on a long walk to get there!

Day 26…

Sunday 26th Oct
I think today is the day I reach 100 miles! 🥳 From here on in, I’m walking just to see what I can achieve! I’ve enjoyed this challenge & although I’m not in a rush to do it again, I’ll certainly do another dementia challenge at some point.

Day 25

Saturday 25th Oct
I was hoping for 4 miles but happy with 3. I had a lovely first day of half term eating cake and drinking coffee with 2 of my favourite people. I knew it wouldn’t be a lot of walking so I made up for it once I was home. Hopefully I can do some great walking tomorrow 🤞🏻

Day 24

Friday 24th Oct
Not as far as I’d have liked today but I’ve just seen I’ve passed 90 miles! Yay!

Day23

Friday 24th Oct
Another 4 miles done, yay! I’m aiming for another 4 on Friday to take it to 90 miles for the weekend! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Day 22

Wednesday 22nd Oct
Today I disco danced, I danced hard with my little crew! I made sure my feet didn’t stop so I got my steps in. Tomorrow there’s no PE & no disco, tomorrow I’ll be purely walking…I’m hoping for another 4 miles!

Day 21

Tuesday 21st Oct
A lovely lunchtime stroll a round the yard and whole lot of just dancing in the afternoon with Becky has helped me reach 4 miles…yay!!

Day 20

Monday 20th Oct
Back to walking around the yard and playing games in club! Even the rain we spent lunchtime walking looking for the rainbows. 🌈

Day19

Sunday 19th Oct
I forgot to charge my watch last night which meant I HAD to sit down for an hour this afternoon! New washing machine delivered and a random police visit meant I was up and down stairs more than ever and my house was scrubbed ready for the new appliance. I also did a workout with Rick from YouTube, his walking workouts are perfect for miserable days!

Day 18

Saturday 18th Oct
Washing machine shopping means a quick walk a round the Greyhound park and ikea today! This was followed by a walk a round Chester, I would have liked 4 miles but happy with this as the germs have left but not totally gone yet!

Day 17….

Friday 17th Oct
Holy smokes, not including the extra parts of miles, I’ve reached 60 miles today!!! Only 2 more to go until I’ve managed 62, hopefully I’ll get this tomorrow.
Should I increase the challenge to 100 miles? Am I crazy?!
What a great way to end a germy week!

Day 17

Friday 17th Oct
Not sure how I managed so much today, still full of germs and my ankle is shouting after yesterday, still I’ll take the win of 4 more miles! Yay!

Day 16

Thursday 16th Oct
School trip! If you ever me complain after a school trip about being tired please notes the exercise and steps and miles to understand what I mean! Full of germy germs but absolutely chuffed to bits with today. Hopefully tomorrow will be less germy but still a few miles down!

Day 15

Thursday 16th Oct
Full of cold yesterday so I don’t post an update. Chuffed with 4 miles though!

Day 14

Tuesday 14th Oct
34 and some more miles done to date! I’m just sitting down for my first cup of tea in what has been a very long day! Phew!

Day 13

Monday 13th Oct
The cold is still coming at me with full force. I’ll happily take these 3.5 miles though, I feel like I walked them today! Tomorrrow will be the end of week 2 so I’ll do a running total of how many miles I’ve achieved, it’s almost the half way point!

Day something…

Sunday 12th Oct
Today I’ve been hit by the standard back to work germs! It’s taken its sweet time but I’m definitely feeling it. I haven’t left the house at all, it’s been a stay on the sofa sort of day, this is why I’m happy with the mile. The mile has been achieved by mopping up my kitchen floor from wet washing after my machine decided it had had enough last night and stopped! Urgh, what a day!!

Day 10

Saturday 11th Oct
A lovely walk this morning and I only got slightly lost, but as Tolkien once said “Not all who wander are lost.” It was a lovely little expedition and helped me clock up some steps. Not feeling great today, I think I have a stinky cold starting, I might use some of my banked up miles to have a rest day tomorrow and fight these rubbish germs!

Day 9.

Friday 10th Oct
Today I not only got to do lots of walking but I also did the gardening in school this afternoon. Throw into the mix a weekly shop and I’m happy with these 4 miles. Not going to make plans to walk this weekend, when I do it seems Mother Nature throws storms my way, so instead I’ll just aim for a few more miles!

Day 8

Thursday 9th Oct
Gutted! For the first time my watch ran out of power in the middle of the afternoon! I have no idea how far I walked during club or on my after school adventures as I didn’t check! Today’s record will remain as 3 miles but I’m sure it’s more! Never mind, I’m quite enjoying the walking. 🚶🏻‍♀️

Day 7

Wednesday 8th Oct
Another 4 miles down! Today has been a lot, I don’t think I stopped all day, this 4 miles could easily have been 5, my watch was on charge for 3 of them!

Day 6

Tuesday 7th Oct
Officially one week in and I’ve clocked 20miles! 🥳 If I manage to do another 20 this week, I’ll increase my 62 mile goal!

Day 6

Monday 6th Oct
Much better today, lots of walking at lunchtime in the beautiful sunshine. I probably smashed 4 miles but my watch needed charging so I’m keeping it at 3 miles achieved. One week in tomorrow, I’ll post at each week milestone to help keep track of the miles achieved.

Day 5

Sunday 5th Oct
Not going to lie, today was tricky! I really wanted to got to the beach today but Storm Amy shouted enough I chose to stay home, then the rain came. Instead I did walking workouts in my home to just reach the 2 mile mark. Not an enjoyable walk, but the miles were walked never the less!

Day 4

Saturday 4th Oct
Storm Amy came and made walking very difficult, a couple of laps of Broughton Park and then walking inside has helped me reach this milestone today. It’s not quite 4 miles but definitely in touching distance. Weather depending I’m hoping for a beach walk tomorrow.

Day 3

Friday 3rd Oct
Another 3 miles done today, this was tricky though, due to the rubbish weather there weren’t any break times in work so I couldn’t get any distance in. Instead I played dodgeball and moved a round the hall gaining steps and distance. A short walk after work definitely helped too. This weekend is going to be very tough as Storm Amy hits, I think I’ll be hitting the indoor walking workouts instead.

Day 2

Thursday 2nd Oct
Yay! An unexpected about of miles today! Tshirt arrived in the post to for my weekend walks 👍🏻

Day 2

Thursday 2nd Oct
What a day! After a very long day in work, I went food shopping just to get some more distance in! Fairly safe to say I wasn’t expecting over 5 miles on day 2!

Day 1!

Wednesday 1st Oct
I’m going to try and do a small update each day and include a photo of my miles so you can see I’m still doing the challenge. During the week I’ll be walking around the yard at lunchtime and after school. Hopefully I’ll get some good walking at the weekend. I’m aiming for 2 miles a day but if I can do more I’ll be pleased!

Today I’ve managed 3.8 miles! 🥳🥳🥳
