March Dog Walking Challenge

I'm walking 62K with my dog for Dementia UK

This March, I'm walking 62K with my dog, Theo, and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

The charity is close to my heart as my nan has been living with dementia for a number of years and has reached a stage where she no longer knows my name or how I am related to her. Dementia not only has a toll on its patients but also on their families. My mom cares for my nan day in day out, ensuring all of her needs are met, and does so with so much patience and consideration. However, there is limited support available for her to ensure she has all the knowledge she needs and also emotional support. Your donation will help people just like my mom by providing much needed support, solutions, and coping strategies. Your donation, big or small, makes a difference; just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one's distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

When the views are this good...

Theo and I are nearly halfway through our goal and it has been made easier by the views I am lucky enough to see on our walks. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, it is so appreciated.

Supporting my nan, mom and people just like them

Wednesday 19th Feb
My nan currently lives with dementia. I noticed a huge change when I went home for Christmas and she didn't know my name anymore. Up until this year, I have always received a happy birthday text, call, or card. But not this year. To witness it is something I'd never imagined. It is heartbreaking, and a horrendous disease that relies heavily on support from carers. My mom is my greatest inspiration; she cares for my nan day in day out, with so much love and patience it makes me proud.
Dementia not only has a toll on its patients but also on their families. Your donation will help people just like my mom by providing much needed support, solutions, and coping strategies. Anything you can donate, no matter how small, will be hugely appreciated.
