I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

My Dad is nearly 90 now. Like one of his favourite songs, he has lived a life that’s full and not in a shy way. Even now, against all odds, his strength and spirit somehow spur him on to fight another day against mixed dementia. He was always into his fitness (running, weights and playing squash). He never smoked and he never liked to take pain killers when “mind over matter is all you need!”. Strong and stubborn as a bull. Funny and smart, a ladies’ man and a man’s man. And a fantastic snooker player all his life. A James Bond and Pink Panther fanatic, with the charm of Connery and the lunacy of Sellers. Never a dull day with this man as your Dad! Thank you so much for helping me smash my original target of £250 which we have now almost doubled. I still have 3 weeks and about 20 miles to do and every step is a privilege and an honour. Always remember your vitamin G, for gratitude x

I’m so chuffed to have reached the £250 target already, thanks to the early generous donations of friends and family. I wanted to raise it and why not by “147” (IYKYN) with this great shot of Dad, a snooker legend, taking a shot on the baize in his local club that he loved so much and thrashed all challengers in for 40 years! Thank you so much 🙏🏼❤️ x
