I am Walking 62 Miles for Dementia in October

Tuesday 30th Sep
Hi

I am doing this walk for one of the most under resourced ticking time bombs 1 in 4 of us will witness in out lifetime. I have done my research ( I could Harvard reference it).  The government/NHS doesn't have the resources and support in place which I have discovered. They don't know enough about it.

Dementia is one of the leading causes of death in the UK along with Cancer.

Dementia is a cruel and horrible disease.  Call it what you want Alzimers,  Hydrocephalus, Heireditery,  Unlucky Cognative Impairment, Brain Damage, Brain Injury, Lifestyle choices...you get the jist?

It is not just the person that has Dementia which is effected and too rightly so its a hard and painful watch.  The person with Dementia is troubled, proud, confused etc...  It's the hardest thing to witness and life with. Immediate fancy members that live with someone suffering with dementia is griefing the person they used to know and has lost.  They have a version of the person they knew and loved before. It breaks you heart time and time again and it's horrible to witness what the person that once was has became. Patience can be difficult at both sides

Anyway....it's has certainly taken it's toll on close friends and me which has effected our health and relationships with people we thought were the closest. Some people don't listen, cannot see the person with the invisible disease and the  struggles  it brings until it is too late. They think if they can work, drive, laugh etc....they are ok. Once again they do not live with it.

Dementia related illnesses causes stress, anxiety, financial pressures and ignorance everywhere you turn.

I have recently been diagnosed with a few debilitating conditions, caring has taken its toll and this is a challenge for me. I will try to get out each day to walk these steps in the aid of raising awareness for this cause.

If you have managed to read to here and not swiped past. Thank You x
