I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

For my Gran

Tuesday 19th May

Anyone who knows me knows just how much my Granny means to me.
She has always been one of my safest places, the person who could make everything feel okay with one cuddle.

This week, I drove 190 miles to see her.
And it was one of the hardest visits I’ve ever had.

For the first time ever, my Granny didn’t know who I was.
Watching someone you love so deeply look at you with confusion is heartbreaking in a way I can’t fully explain. I sat with her, spoke to her softly, and waited while I could almost see the cogs turning as she tried to place my face.

Then, about 90 minutes later, something changed.
She looked at me and said:

“There she is. I’ve been waiting for you, Granny. Can I have a cuddle?”

And just like that, for a moment, it felt like I had my Granny back.
She held me close and said the words I think I’ll carry with me forever:

“You can always have a cuddle.”

That’s the cruel reality of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
It steals memories, moments, and pieces of the people we love — but it can never take away the love itself.

I’m sharing this because I’m raising money for Dementia UK, a charity that supports families going through the heartbreak of dementia every single day. Their specialist Admiral Nurses provide advice, support, and understanding when families need it most.

If you’re able to donate, share, or support in any way, it would mean so much to me and my family.
Every donation helps support people living with dementia and the families loving them through it.

And after that cuddle, I had 190 miles to drive home…
holding onto a moment I never want to forget
