Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

I made it!!

Sunday 1st Feb
Finally on day 31 havnt managed to keep this up to date but i somehow managed to do double the miles as i finished on 100.9 miles!!! Currently sitting at £480 with money still to collect and also bonus ball slots to be filled so hopefully plenty more to come in over the next few days but yeah so far im chuffed with my total

Day 16

Saturday 17th Jan
So i got my miles in today going taking the dogs a walk and then heading to the football! Managed to snag the gaffer and add his signature to the rangers top so just 2 to go but ill get them whilst the tops are selling

Day 10

Sunday 11th Jan
So this day was rather busy! Im a massive wrestling fan and they were in Glasgow tonight now sadly i couldnt afford a ticket to the show so i thought i would take a walk into town to maybe catch a glimpse and maybe get some pictures and autographs. Several hrs later i get home after meeting lots of them and getting a few autos to add to my collection and…. Adding 5.3 miles to the tally so now im sat at 30.1 so may hit the 50 sooner but ill just keep plodding on

Day 9 worse day yet!

Saturday 10th Jan
Yeah today didnt start off great as i was ill!! Didnt get to sleep until 10am as i was awake being sick so yeah wasnt off to the best start. So i had a wee power nap and pulled out the treadmill as there was no rest for the wicked! Even with feeling rubbish and under the weather i managed to power on and managed to add 3.8miles to the tally! Which i was fairly happy with considering. So its onto day 10 and power through and adding another chunk to the tally

Day 8

Friday 9th Jan
Today was pretty quiet and i decided to take a wee trip into town to the Theatre to try get some autographs from some football legends so instead of taking the bus or taxi i walked most of the journey and walked most of it back adding another 2.8miles on to the tally

A week in!

Wednesday 7th Jan
Thats me a week in and currently sitting at 18.2miles a good chunk down. Had a wee walking buddy for today this wee terror. I’d like to say i was taking her a walk but she was a hyper one today and she was taking me for a walk 🤣

Day 5

Tuesday 6th Jan
Not the nicest of days to be fair as i was attending the funeral of one of the people that spurred me on to do this as she suffered from dementia but we gave her the send off she deserved and im sure she will be judging us all and telling us to get a grip haha. So yes got my miles in after and now sitting at 11.3miles so making steady progress on to the next day

Day 3

Saturday 3rd Jan
Well todays miles were done nice and early as i was up for the football anyways  and with a game as big as this one there isnt many places you can go after the game so a wee walk to the shops and back totalling another 2.5miles to the tally!

Day 2

Friday 2nd Jan
Day 2 of the charity walk and onto a total of 4.5miles so far went a leisurely stroll round the local park and home again no done that in a while. Now its not quite jack and victors hot seat but the view from this wee bench is no too bad either

Day 1

Thursday 1st Jan
And we are underway! Got a few donations on my paper donation sheet from the pack and started racking up the miles and easy start to get me up and running and finished on 1.9miles today

End of the year and my kit came through!

Wednesday 31st Dec
So it’s Hogmanay and finally on to 2026! Been a long year of ups and downs and time to start a fresh! Kit came through for my walk in January all for an amazing cause and time to start walking any donations would help massively and would be totally appreciated

Ive decided to do this challenge as dementia is a horrible horrible syndrome that has effected many of my friends and family and I feel its only right to do my part to support this amazing charity to fight it.
