I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

4th week over 3 days to go

Tuesday 28th Oct
Still averaging just over 2 miles per day  but body is struggling,However last 3 days and I will make it over the line.
Main concern is making my donation fund and it is £60.00 short of £250.00 I set myself.
A few people have promised to donate and hopefully that will be happening over the next few days.Anyone reading this please donate to what is a great cause .Just what you can afford would be much appreciated.
Anyway  my figures for the week and accumulative totals to date. Just as well I had a good first 2 weeks before my bones went.

STEPS 38849[221593]
MINS 374 [2132]

MINS  363[1758]

Donations, even if it is out of sympathy with my aching body would cheer me up and help my fund.Looks like I am going to limp across the line at the end of the month.
72 on Saturday and feeling around 82 put a smile back on my face, you know it makes sense.

Official Message
“To celebrate reaching the halfway point of the ‘Walk 62 Miles in October’ challenge, we are pleased to share an exciting announcement:
All donations will be matched! One of our major donors has generously agreed to match every donation received on fundraising pages (up to a total of £10,000) between 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, 15th October 2025.”
Thank you for your continued support.

FIRST WEEK OVER

Tuesday 7th Oct
First week done and dusted ,had to contend with Storm Amy which always seemed to be  in front of me and never at my back propelling me.
A calf muscle complaint  on day 2 lasted a couple of days but is ok now.
Because of the weather  I have been walking locally , hopefully that will change next week.
Have had a lot of interest locally in this Dementia charity which is not a surprise because it is currently affecting many families.Hopefully this interest can be converted to donations to boost my fund.
Pleased with my walking output and incoming funds in this first week.
STEPS WALKED     72330
MILES TRAVELLED  33
MINUTES WALKED  694
MONEY DONATED £90.00

Pleased to be taking part  for this worthy charity.
Roll on week 2 and better weather.

Walking for Dementia Charity

Tuesday 30th Sep
After 5 years of walking for the Prostate Cancer charity I have decided to transfer  my legs to the Dementia charity. This starts tomorrow 01/10/2025 and completes on 31/10/2025 .62 miles is the target and I  upped it to 150 miles.
During this walk on 25/10/2025 will be my 72 nd birthday  and  my memory is not what it was..Had a well nigh photographic memory  when a lot younger I am aware this has dwindled somewhat. Is it because our bodies are lasting longer and our brains can't keep pace..
Cases of dementia are rising all over and funds are required for research, treatment ,new medicines and assistance for family care.
I want to help and like my friends ,family and anyone who knows me or reads this blog donate to this charity.  If I get to 150 miles during the month 10p a mile is £15.00 .
What a starting point,what a great cause.
