Fans vs Dementia

I'm taking on Fans vs Dementia

During the course of 90 minutes, 30 people in the UK will develop dementia.

I’m taking on Fans vs Dementia and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

£19 could pay for the telephone costs of five families calling our free Helpline whenever they need support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Date Set

Monday 16th Feb
So the date and route has been set for my Fans vs Dementia walk as Saturday 11th April 2026. I will be walking with a very close friend, Glenn Randall.

We are both massive football fans, Glenn is Spurs and I'm Birmingham City. We have both completed many long distance walks for charity and in fact it was on one such walk that we met and became such good friends.

Glenn has completed 2 >100 mile walks for Justice for The 21 (charity to support the victims and families of the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings), I've done some if both walks with Glenn but I've also completed 10 long distance walks for the Army Benevolent Fund.

In October 2022 on one of my 100km walks for the ABF, I suffered a cardiac arrest just past Pegasus Bridge. Thankfully the paramedic wouldn't give up on me and he revived me. I spent a few weeks in Caen Hospital where I had a life saving double by-pass operation and I completed another 100km walk last October.

Glenn cemented how great a friend he is by dropping everything and travelling to Caen to visit me in hospital,  I couldn't be walking with anyone better than this man.

It was Glenn's idea to do this walk, as my dear mum was diagnosed with dementia late last year. The route we will take is Wembley Stadium to Potters Barr Town FC, who are managed by an ex-Spurs and Blues player, Ian Hendon. Ian was with Glenn when they finally won a trophy last season, some European one apparently!!

Well if you see two old lumps walking from Wembley to Potters Barr on the 12th April, toot your horn, shout some abuse, or just give us a wave.

It's a long, long road - KRO!!
