I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Mission Accomplished!

Saturday 1st Nov
What a month.
On Friday 31st October I completed my final 3 miles of the 62 mile target.
Few sore bones and muscles but donating £850  to Dementia UK for doing those 62 miles across the  beautiful landscape of Yorkshire, has made it all worth while.
Thank you so much to all who donated and supported me throughout.
Humbled.
Much Love

Week 3- Onwards & Upwards

Wednesday 22nd Oct
Hi,
Another challenging week here in Yorkshire. Plenty hills to climb and rain to contend with this week!
No problem.
Finished off the week with another 8 mile walk today alongside a 5 mile walk last weekend. we really do have some beautiful views across the Yorkshire skyline that take your breath away at times.
My hip and feet are starting to become a little sore but it is well worth it knowing every little helps towards such a good cause.
MY second target of £500 has been smashed and I currently stand at £735 with 19 miles and 9 days to go.
Your kind comments and donations have been an inspiration and I can't thank you enough.
Went to see my Mom today who has dementia and told her all about what I am doing. She agreed with me, it is the right thing to do.
Much Love,
Dave G.

Week 2 Completed! Still Going Strong.

Wednesday 15th Oct
What a week!!!!
10 days in and my original £250 target was reached. Consequently, decided to alter to a new target of £500 .
Walked 23  miles so far in October,  at the time of writing, with some longer walks still to come.(Did 8 miles Halifax to Brighouse -sore after!)
Had notification from Demntia UK that they had a donor who was willing to macth any donations for one day only-namely today (Wednesday)
Have reached out to my network today to let them know-what a response thus far!!!!!
There are truly some very kind people out there with  fantastic values.
Thank you so much for supporting such a great cause.
Just off for another walk so will sign off.
Much love.

Week 1 Completed!

Wednesday 8th Oct
Hi,
Well that was an interesting week to start  my attempt to walk 62 miles in October for Dementia UK.
12 miles completed, one major storm, a sore hip and knees after an 8 mile walk on Tuesday and £170 raised already.
I can't thank you enough for the support I have had so far. So refreshing to see there is still some kindness and compassion in this world.
Personal thank you's will be going out on socials over the next few days to those who have been kind enough to sponsor me so far.
Hopefully this week will be a bit better weather wise and my body will start getting used to walking the streets and fields of Halifax.
if you are able to support me with a donation that would be very much appreciated.
Much Love,
Dave G

Here We Go!

Wednesday 1st Oct
Hi Folks,
Well, the time has finally come to walk 62 miles in October to rasie money for Dementia UK.
No doubt, due to living in Halifax, I will be walking 'uphill and down dale'. That coupled with the usual inclement weather here in Yorkshire this time of year, will make it more of a challenge. No problem though-I will just have to put my 'Big Coat on!'
My Mom is currently on the dementia journey. This of course has affected her and also my family. Tough for us all but she is happy in her own little world-which is a blessing.
My Mom has been there for me throughout my life, guiding and  supporting. It is my turn now to do likewise for her and my family.
If, along the way I can also raise money for Dementia UK so they can help others who are on the same journey, then that is the right thing to do.
I will be updating this blog weekly to share my journey.
I hope you can find it in you to support such a worthy cause.
Much Love,
Dave G
