Walking a mile a day in May ❤️
Saturday 25th Apr
This May, I’m taking part in the Dementia Walk – one mile every day – for reasons that are both deeply personal and part of my everyday work.
I lost my dad when I was 23. Grief has a way of shaping who you become, quietly staying with you as life moves on. Now, years later, dementia has touched my family again. Watching someone you love change in ways you can’t control or fix is one of the hardest things to witness.
Alongside this, I work as a community mental health nurse with older adults, and I see every day how dementia affects not just the person, but the whole family. The strength, the heartbreak, the patience, and the love that carry people through it all is something that stays with you.
So this walk is for them.
For the memories that remain, and the ones that slowly fade.
For the families navigating this journey every day.
And for hope – for better understanding, better support, and one day, a cure.
If you’re able to support this cause, even a small donation would mean so much and will go towards helping people living with dementia and their families. And if not, simply sharing this or following along on the journey is just as appreciated 💙
“Dementia may change a person, but it never erases the love you shared.”
