I'm running 100K for Dementia UK

This February, I'm running 100K and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Day 26, Run 23 - 5k (final run of the challenge)

Thursday 26th Feb
I can’t believe it but I actually managed to complete the challenge today!!! I’m honestly so proud of myself when I started this challenge I thought to myself how the hell am I going to do this, but here we are 🤯😊I don’t know what else to say except thank you so much for every bit of support I’ve had this month, it’s been amazing and has felt so worthwhile!!! I’m definitely going to continue this momentum going forward and push for further distance and a quicker baseline speed, but I’m going to take a day or two to relax hahaha 😂 Day 26, Run 23, 5km run, total distance this month… 100km 🩵Love you Oma this is for you and everyone who’s lives have unfortunately been touched by dementia, well done to everyone else who’s done this challenge or anything similar, keep running people xxx

Day 25, Run 22 - 5k

Wednesday 25th Feb
Another 5k, only 5 more to go! Feels a bit weird being so close to the target, feeling very motivated for the final run tomorrow and hitting that 100k :D not much more to say other than let’s finish this 😁

Day 24, Run 21 - 5k

Tuesday 24th Feb
Another 5k down and only 10k left to go, feels amazing! I’m thinking ahead to what I want to do next month and I might try making 6k my new go to length of run, and aim for 120k, we will see though!◡̈ bye bye for now 👋

Day 22, Run 20 - 5k

Sunday 22nd Feb
Another 5k bringing me up to 85k, feeling really good at the start of this last week, I’m actually looking forward to these next 15k haha. Starting to feel really proud with myself for this challenge and feeling so grateful for the amount of support I’ve had this month, I’m very lucky to know so many amazing people. Should only be 3 more runs now!

Day 21, Run 19 - 5k

Saturday 21st Feb
Finishing off the third week of the challenge with a 5k after a days rest, meaning I have hit 80k total. Only 20k left for this last week, feeling confident and proud of myself for being able to see this challenge through and push myself to this point 😁Bring on this last week!!!

Day 19, Run 18 - 2k

Saturday 21st Feb
Just a little 2k for the second run this day, to get me to the 3/4 mark at 75k total, felt good getting to this point!

Day 19, Run 17 - 3k

Saturday 21st Feb
Bit delayed but uploading the runs I’ve done now, this took me to 73k total.

Day 18, Run 16 - 4k

Wednesday 18th Feb
Back on track today, even though there was only enough time for the one run due to other commitments, but felt good to be able to hit 70k total after doing this 4k, and no lingering pain or noticeable injury with the back of my leg with this run. Looking forward to hopefully getting to the 3/4 tomorrow if I can get another 5k 🤞

Day 17, Run 15 - 1k

Wednesday 18th Feb
Had to cut this run short due to the back of my left knee hurting quite a bit, slightly frustrated because I definitely had the stamina and determination but equally I don’t want to give myself any long term damage that will stop me from completing the challenge.

Day 17, Run 14 - 3k

Wednesday 18th Feb
Easy little 3k for the first run of the day.

Day 16, Run 13 - 3k

Monday 16th Feb
A second 3k run later in the day. Was really happy and reassured within myself that I could do a second run, and confident in myself to hopefully push myself a bit more with this different approach with 2 daily runs, hoping this might be able to get me to hit some 8k daily totals, but we will see. Very happy to have another 6k total added to the overall distance, which has now brought me to 62k, almost at the 2/3 mark, which I should be able to hit tomorrow!

Day 16, Run 12 - 3k

Monday 16th Feb
Did a morning run starting off easy with 3k, felt good to be able to run earlier in the day!

Day 15, Run 11 - 4k

Monday 16th Feb
Forgot to post this yesterday but did another 4k bringing me to 56k total. Not a lot else to say but going forward I’ll probably be splitting my runs up more, with both a slightly shorter run in both the morning and afternoon, around 3/4k each, so throughout the days I’ll be averaging higher with 6k+ runs.

Day 14, Run 10 - 5k

Saturday 14th Feb
Another 5k today, pushing me over the half way point by the end of week 2 of 4, now with 52k. Only 48k left, and with a week off now due to work, I’m hoping to make a good dent in my remaining distance before for the final week. Let’s see how things go! :D

Day 12, Run 9 - 5k

Thursday 12th Feb
Felt a little bit better today, but still not all the way there yet, so I’m happy with this 5k. I did have to push myself a bit for this one but nothing too extreme because I don’t want to give myself a burn out haha. Tomorrow will likely be a break and then Saturday I’ll be able to close week 2 off with getting over that 50k milestone, currently at 47k 👍

Day 11, Run 8 - 4k

Thursday 12th Feb
Didn't post this one yesterday, but just a chilled 4k as I was not feeling 100%. This took me up to 42k.

Day 9, Run 7 - 5k

Monday 9th Feb
Not the 6k I was hoping for but still a good effort, now at a total of 38k. Definitely struggled today, I’m not too sure why maybe a bit burned out, but I’m taking tomorrow off due to other commitments, or at most a 2k, so hopefully I’ll feel more rested and ready to power on to the 50k by the end of week 2!

Day 8, Run 6 - 6k

Sunday 8th Feb
Managed to hit my 33k target by the end of the week with this 6k run, but was not up to another 8k today, still feeling happy with how things are going at the start of week 2 of 4. Hopefully will be able to keep up the steady progress with another 6k tomorrow! Bye til then 👋

Day 7, Run 5 - 8k

Saturday 7th Feb
Thought I was going to do another 6k but when I got to the 6k mark I thought to myself why not push for a full hours worth of running and get the 8k. The last 10 minutes were probably the toughest so far this month but I feel so motivated. I’m hoping I can do another 8k tomorrow, but as it stands I’m 27k down after week 1 of 4, so I’m on target! Let’s see how week 2 goes!!! 😁

Day 5, Run 4 - 6k

Thursday 5th Feb
Managed to keep the energy going from yesterday and pushed myself for 6k, feeling really proud of the progress I’m making. Sitting at 19k after 4 runs feels good, thought I’d listen to music this time instead of a video and it definitely motivated me more. Think I’ll do another 6k tomorrow, if not Saturday. My aim is to get to 33 or 34k by the end by the end of the week, then I’ll be around 1/3 of the way there. Bye for now 👋

Day 4, Run 3 - 5k

Thursday 5th Feb
Upped the distance to 5k today (well yesterday I forgot to upload this lol 😂), but it was not as difficult as I thought, if I have the same amount of energy as I did yesterday I might push myself for a 45 min 6k run tonight, we will see ☺️

Day 3, Run 2 - 4k

Tuesday 3rd Feb
Second run of the month done, another 4k, feeling like in the next couple of days that I’m ready to start doing 5k runs. We will see tomorrow I guess :D
