Walking for Nan 💜

Last October, our family lost someone incredibly special—my Nan. Although 92, she suffered with dementia for the last 3 years. Nan was the “Queen” of our family strong, caring, loving, and fiercely independent. Watching her fade over the years was incredibly painful, and my mum bore the brunt of the daily struggles. 

I walk most days, and often find myself thinking about Nan—how she was, and just how much we all miss her. We remember everything she did for us as a family and what a fun, witty lady she was. Her laughter, her cheeky remarks, her cuddle—they’re all still so vivid in our minds.

That’s why this October, I’ve decided to walk 62 miles in memory of Nan, and to raise awareness for Dementia UK. It’s for the families who are still navigating the confusion, heartbreak, and exhaustion that dementia brings. It’s for the carers who give everything, often without enough help.
