“My dad”

Wednesday 19th Aug In February this year we had the devastating news that Dad had Vascular Dementia. This  was after a short stay in hospital & also after being told that his Prostate Cancer had also spread to most parts of his body including his skull. We were in total shock as we thought the confusion, slower speech /Asphasia was due to the strokes that dad had also suffered within the months leading up to the Diagnosis. Having to try to explain to my Dad that this was also something he now had was heartbreaking 💔 as he was going through so much already. The changes in Dad have been rapid & as a family we are navigating this awful illness the best we can but every day is different. It affects everyone in the family, & more funding needs to given to help these charities that help families like ours, its a very lonely space & with the help it can provide support for Dad, someone who comes to the home & offers support wether it be sat listening to him or taking him out for a couple of hours. Whether it be helping with bathing or getting dressed. This also gives mum a break as the exhaustion that the careers feel is immense.
