I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK
This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
Thank you!

Walking 60 Miles This June for Dementia
Saturday 23rd May
This June, I’ll be walking 60 miles for dementia — a cause that has been close to my heart for many years, both professionally and now deeply personally.
For much of my career, I worked in nursing and within the private sector supporting people living with dementia. I’ve seen firsthand the confusion, fear, vulnerability, and heartbreak this illness brings, not only for those diagnosed but for the families who walk beside them every single day.
Over the years, I cared for many incredible people whose memories slowly faded, whose personalities changed, and whose loved ones had to navigate the pain of watching someone they love gradually disappear. It was emotional then, but nothing prepares you for when dementia enters your own family.
Now, my beautiful mum is living with dementia.
Watching someone you love change in front of your eyes is one of the hardest things imaginable. Dementia steals memories, independence, conversations, and moments you once took for granted. Sometimes it feels like you are grieving someone who is still here — holding onto glimpses of the person you know and love so deeply.
That is why this walk means so much to me.
Every mile I walk in June is for my mum, for the families facing this cruel disease, and for every person living with dementia who deserves dignity, compassion, support, and hope. It is also for the carers — the exhausted, loving, resilient people who give everything emotionally and physically each day.
Sixty miles may be a challenge, but it is nothing compared to the daily challenges dementia brings to so many lives.
If my journey can help raise awareness, encourage understanding, or support charities working tirelessly in dementia care and research, then every step will be worth it.
Thank you to everyone supporting me, cheering me on, donating, or simply taking the time to read this. Your kindness means more than words can say.
Please hold your loved ones close, be patient, make memories where you can, and never underestimate how much small moments matter.
