I'm walking 50 miles in September
My mum was officially diagnosed with mixed dementia a couple of years ago. Although she is now happily settled in a local care home it has resulted in her losing her independence, her home of 30+ years and memories of family and friends.
In a bid to do our bit towards helping families like ours cope with dementia my sister and I will be walking 50 miles in September (her in Dubai and me in the UK - the challenge is 30 miles but that didn’t feel enough to either of us for such a good cause). I appreciate times are hard for people but we would be grateful for anything you can spare. How about having one less coffee/pastry/bag of sweets etc and donating it to a good cause instead?
An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.
Thanks in advance for your generosity. It means a lot to us both and most importantly people and families living with dementia.
