Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

1 week down...

Wednesday 7th Jan
Its been a bit difficult to get out and about so only a few small stomps since new year! but then today took the dogs round Entwistle for a bulk mileage.
It was more of an ice rink half the way round so I think it was a blessing to stay upright 😄

Saw another robin so it felt Grandma was close again ❤️

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, and thanks in advance for those who havnt YET! 😍

I've been thinking a lot about her the last couple of days, normally on a Tuesday it was lunch with her day...

More pictures from today added at the bottom of the page xx

Happy New Year!

Thursday 1st Jan
Hi all and a Happy New Year!
Today me Elaine and Sue went for a wee adventure with the dogs near Turton Tower and completed the first 3.1 miles! Pics to follow.
We also saw a beautiful robin so maybe grandma wasn't so far away 💐
Thanks for all the donations so far, they've extended my target again!

Updates to continue on this page! Thank you all to family and friends so far xxx

Hello!

Friday 19th Dec
Hey guys

We sadly lost our Queen, My beautiful grandma this week. She had mixed dementia diagnosed in 2021 and Ive enjoyed every moment of helping to care for her over the last many years.

We arnt doing flowers for her, we want to have donations to this charity instead to support all types of dementia. Its a horrible disease.
So I want to make sure we get extra donations in memory of my grandma by doing this as well.

I know its the time of year when everyone is skint but even if you just decide to have 1 beer or wine less over the holiday and donate the money to this instead I would be over the moon!

I loved Jean so much, I always enjoyed going round to her house for a brew and doing the crossword. It was always an oasis of calm at her house, a really peaceful place and such a loving environment with her and Elaine and all your family. So much laughter too, your Grandma was always so quick with a witty line, even near the end she would always come out with an absolute zinger that would have everyone in the room belly laughing! So much joy in that house, I always loved going there and still do now, although it will never quite be the same again. God bless you Jean, you've broken everyone's heart and we'll never forget you! xxx

Good luck with your challenge - a very worthy cause :) My grandad passed from dementia in 2020 and my uncle was diagnosed last year so I'm more than happy to support a charity that helps families like ours. Your grandma would be so very proud of you, we all are xx
