I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

💜 Not quite the finish line yet but we will get there 💜

A&E trips and Covid for the walking pair! It's been a rotten end of the week and weekend. 😢

2025 is certainly testing and growing the resilience levels that's for sure. 

I'm feeling guilty we haven't posted or been walking so here is a little update from us whilst we fight COVID!!!! Grrr.

We’re both completely wiped out, and being laid up in bed is not something I do well—after a few days, the low mood creeps in. 😢 Not seeing Nanna has been the hardest part, but keeping her safe is our top priority right now! 


We’ve got 16 miles left to walk, and we will make them up as soon as we’re able. The challenge might be nearing its official end, but our commitment hasn’t wavered. We’ll bounce back x

To top off the week, we started with an unexpected A&E trip for Elsie and her locked finger. Surgery is looking likely, but she’s been brave and brilliant as always.

So whilst we are poorly we are still determined to finish strong for Nanna and every family affected by dementia x

National Alzheimer's Day!

💕⭐️It’s National Alzheimer’s Day—a time to honour every family facing the heartbreak of dementia. For us, it’s deeply personal. We’re walking 30 miles this September for Dementia UK, inspired by our beautiful Nanna and the thousands of families like ours.

We’ve now raised over £500, including £80 in offline donations—and that’s not just a number. That could fund more than 10 hours of specialist Admiral Nurse support, giving families expert guidance and emotional care when dementia turns life upside down.

And I couldn’t be prouder of Elsie , her commitment, compassion, and determination to make a difference. She’s walking for Nanna, for every child trying to understand memory loss, and for every family who needs a lifeline.💕

Morning has broken! I did a lovely first thing walk around our local meadow! Elsie did a 1 mile walk whilst at her Daddy's (so Proud of her dedication!)

Sunday parked up in a lovely spot and then walked to the care home and back, admiring our local duck pond!

Elsie did her mile after school and the reality for me is I haven't. After work I went to see Nanna and sadly it was a difficult evening, I spent extra time with her tonight instead of going for my walk but I will make up for it now we are into the weekend x

Elsie enjoyed a local lunchtime walk around her Dads town and I enjoyed  an after work walk around our local village! 
Both achieving a minimum of a mile in not so nice weather. Looking forward to the weekend where we will walk further and doing some walks together ❤️

Elsie enjoyed a walk on the north Norfolk coast with her Dad and family, and I enjoyed a lunch time walk around our water meadow near where we live. It was lovely x

• Specialist Nurse Support: It could pay for three families to attend virtual clinic sessions with an Admiral Nurse, helping them better care for their loved one A.
• Helpline Services: It might fund a specialist dementia Helpline nurse for two hours in the evening, offering crucial support when other services are closed A.
• Practical One-on-One Care: It could provide an hour of practical support from a specialist dementia nurse to someone living with dementia. 


Every pound helps extend the reach of Admiral Nurses, who offer expert guidance, emotional support, and tailored care plans to families navigating the challenges of dementia.

🚶‍♀️✨ September Walking Challenge for Dementia UK ✨🚶‍♀️

Today marks the start of a very personal journey for me and Elsie. Throughout September, we’ll be walking a minimum of 30 miles each to raise funds for Dementia UK—a charity that’s now heartbreakingly close to our hearts.

This is the first time our family has faced Alzheimer’s, and it’s been tough! Watching our Nanna—our best friend, our anchor and huge part of our world—change in ways never imagined has been one of the hardest things we have ever experienced. 

Supporting Dementia UK means helping families like ours access specialist nurses who offer guidance, comfort, and practical support during the most confusing and emotional times. Every mile we walk, every pound we raise, helps someone feel less alone in the storm.

Dementia UK and the Alzheimer's Society has been of real comfort and has been pivotal in helping us navigate this.
