I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK
This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
That’s the official blurb, now here’s my bit… I try to start each year off with a challenge, I find it motivates me to sustain my weight loss and fitness goals. This year, I’ve chosen the walking challenge for Dementia UK. Those who know me well will already know I find walking a challenge at the best of times due to a disability I’ve had since I was a child. So this 50 miles in a month (or my personal goal of averaging 2 miles per day) will be a real challenge and I’m going to give it my best shot. I’ve chosen Dementia UK because so many families are affected by dementia - it feels like the number of people who have some form of dementia is increasing - or maybe we’re just becoming more aware of it. Anyway, it’s a worthy cause, but I am doing this for fairly selfish reasons, so don’t feel bad if you can’t donate or can only donate a small amount.
Love and best wishes to you all (and fingers crossed for a great year).
Thank you!
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
