I'm jogging one mile a day for Dementia UK

This April, I'm jogging one mile each day and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

Days 27-29

Wednesday 30th Apr
Day 27 I forgot my phone so no recording of my run!
Day 28 my phone died and then started recording once I turned it back on. I ran a mile but it recorded much more than that!
Day 29 today. A hot and sweaty one with my running group. We did just over 3k.

FINAL DAY OF THE CHALLENGE TOMORROW AND FINAL SHOUT OUT TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT WANT TO DONATE.

Lots of love to everyone who has sponsored me so far.

Day 24 and 25

Friday 25th Apr
Day 24 was a morning run with Ray along the lovely canal, with a bit of bird spotting and lots of stopping to say hello to other dogs.

Day 25 was a lone run this evening so was a lot quicker than last nights. I met a happy and relaxed young man as I ran across the river who was very excited  and keen you share his delight at spotting a heron with me.

Day 23

Thursday 24th Apr
Late one today with Ray. Can not believe I am in the last week of my challenge!

Day 22

Tuesday 22nd Apr
Running around a field tonight with my running group. I forgot my phone so failed to record on Strava but was told at the end we had ran just over 2 miles so sorted!

Day 21

Monday 21st Apr
Great to be back in my stomping ground today with my best buddy who I missed so much whilst I was away. 🐾

Day 13 - 20

Monday 21st Apr
Not updated for a while as I have been on holiday but continued my challenge whilst there. Bit of a photo dump of my running over the last 7 days. Due to the heat a lot of it was completed in the gym but there were also some beautiful runs along the promenade. 🏃‍♀️👟

Day 12

Saturday 12th Apr
A tired and slow run this morning though I did try to push myself with a few inclines. Who knew staying up late, drinking a few vinos and not eating any breakfast was not conducive to positive running experience?!

Day 11

Friday 11th Apr
Started off tired and couldn't be bothered but as always very glad I did and feeling good for it. Loverly run along the canal and over the river on a beautiful evening.

Day 10

Thursday 10th Apr
Third of the way through! It is weird how some days are so much harder than others. To get going and then whilst running, however I always feel better at the end of it and glad I got out there.

Day 9

Wednesday 9th Apr
A late one today after a busy and at times stressful day.  Managed my PR and it felt much easier this evening. I am now ready for my bed!

Day 8

Wednesday 9th Apr
Evening run with my running group, running round and round a field. It was hard work!

Day 7

Monday 7th Apr
Another bright and early run with my running partner. We didn't see any foxes today and we kept going at a nice steady pace. Ray has now had his breakfast and back to bed and I am enjoying a nice peaceful cup of tea before waking the rest of the family and starting the day.

Day 6

Sunday 6th Apr
It was a blooming hot one today and I was rather red in the face at the end of it. Had a busy day leading up to it so it felt hard work but feeling much better for having done my run and now have my second wind for the rest of my day!

Day 5

Sunday 6th Apr
Gorgeous morning run on Roborough Common with lots of twists and turns and ups and downs.

Day 4

Friday 4th Apr
After a bad night's sleep I was not feeling as enthusiastic today. The mile was done albeit rather slowly!

Day 3

Thursday 3rd Apr
Early one this morning with my running partner. We enjoyed the early morning bird song and our encounters with playful foxes. Managed to push myself a bit further today so feeling good.

Day 2

Wednesday 2nd Apr
Another 1 mile. It was hard going so hoping this will get easier! Took my hunky chunky almond Ray along with me as he has been advised he needs to lose a few pounds! He is now rather exhausted. Hopefully this challenge will do us both the world of good.

Day One Complete

Tuesday 1st Apr
The challenge has began and my first run is complete. 1.6 miles which was made easier by being my first run with my running group.
