Walking 90 Miles for Dementia UK and 'Granny Irene'
Monday 1st SepThis month, I will be walking 90 miles for Dementia UK, in loving memory of my wonderful Gran.
My Gran was the heart and soul of our family. She was the definition of an angel on earth- kind, warm, and full of love. Watching her become unwell with dementia and to watch her children learn to navigate their new reality, was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. It’s heartbreaking to see someone so special, who once gave so much joy and comfort, face such a difficult battle.
Dementia doesn’t just affect the person living with it, it impacts the whole family. The confusion, the changes, and the daily struggles bring challenges that are hard to put into words. That’s why I’ve chosen to take on this challenge: to honour my Gran’s memory and to support Dementia UK, a charity that helps families going through the same pain we did.
Every step I take will be for my Gran, and for all the families who are still walking this journey today.
