I'm walking 30 miles in September

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Day 30

Tuesday 30th Sep
Day 30
Tuesday 30th September
Today was the last day of the September challenge. When I began this it was for 2 reasons. Firstly to raise funds for a good cause that helps families and carers of those with Dementia. Also to help my own well-being both physically and mentally as I was constantly being told that I needed to look after myself.
I want to thank everyone that has donated and supported me, especially my Hubbie, John. ❤️❤️❤️

Day 29

Monday 29th Sep
Day 29
Monday 29th
My mile today was a mismatch of bits of walking again as Hubbie and I spent most of the day at Dad’s helping him. We also went to give blood.
I’ve included a photo of Dad and me from this morning. He sleeps a lot now during the day. Today he was quite ‘with it’ for a while and we spent some time laughing and pulling faces 🤪at each other which was great as they are rare moments.  He looks a bit startled in the photo as he saw himself on the camera on my phone.

Day 28

Monday 29th Sep
Day 28
Sunday 28th
Didn’t go for the walk till the afternoon today which was fortuitous as it had been ‘monsoon’ conditions during the morning. By the afternoon it was bright, sunny ☀️ and much warmer. Only 2 days to go to complete this challenge and the month seems to have sped by. Grateful for all the continued support I have been getting. 💚 👣
Today’s photo, I feel, represents … ‘The Path Well Trodden’ during this challenge. ❤️

Day 27

Sunday 28th Sep
Day 27
Had a stroll by the sea today. It was very blustery but blew the cobwebs away. In the distance on the photo is the Isle of Wight. After our walk, Hubbie and I popped into the Cafe at Solent Airfield for coffee ☕️ and a tea cake.

Day 26

Friday 26th Sep
Day 26
During today’s walk I met 2 lovely ladies and their dogs 🐶. Stopped for a quick chat and they were happy to let me have a photo.

Day 25

Friday 26th Sep
Day 25
Back to nature today with a walk in the woods.
Got to love 💚a tree 🌳 hug 🤗
Only 5 days to go and it seems to have gone by so fast.xx

Day 24

Friday 26th Sep
Day 24
A little different for today, an evening walk round Wickham Village Centre near where we live. Managed not to go into any pubs too. It was a lovely clear night as well.

Day 23

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 23
Quite busy with different tasks today but managed 1 & 1/2 miles.
I saw the image in today’s photo and it is so true. 🥰

Day 22

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 22
Back to normal today with a walk locally after I had been to see Dad. He hadn’t been very good lately but today he was a lot more with it bless him. Managed to make him smile 😊

Day 21

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 21
Second day at Thruxton but only 2 miles today. Very busy day with lots of racing and the weather was kind to us.
Yesterday at the end of my briefing to the team I mentioned I was doing this challenge. I was just about to say that if anyone would like to put some change in a pot to sponsor me that would be great but I didn’t get to say it as they all started given me money. Over the weekend they donated £168 which was awesome. What an amazing team. ❤️ 🚙🏎️🚗🏁

Day 20

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 20
This weekend I am again indulging my motorsport hobby. This time Marshaling at Thruxton Motor Circuit, a place I love going to.
Working in the Pitlane and on the  startline I clocked up 4 miles. I really enjoy my role as Team Leader and have a wonderful group of marshals to work with.

Day 19

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 19
Didn’t manage a dedicated walk outside today as I was looking after Dad in the morning and then had to look after our  little grandson for the rest of the day. However, I still completed a mile round Dad’s house and ours.
For today’s photo I came across this and the words seemed so appropriate. ❤️❤️❤️

Day 18

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 18
Final day away. Walked to Covent Garden and enjoyed a nice cuppa whilst listening to the Buskers. They actually played one of my favourite pieces of music, Pachebel’s Canon 🎵🎶
Managed 5 miles which was good 👍 although feet 👣 starting to ache after the weekend and trip to London but will keep going.

Day 17

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 17
Second day in London and managed 7 miles today. Visited the Tower of London to see the poppies again.
Also, whilst walking we did pop into a couple of hostelries 😂 just to keep our fluid levels up of course.

Day 16

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Day 16
Today we went to London for a couple of days with 2 friends. Went to the Shrek Experience 🤣 What a laugh. Cinderella decided to pick my Hubbie, John, to be her Prince 👑 bless him.
Walking round London I did more miles that the mile a day ✅

Day 15

Monday 22nd Sep
Day 15
Sadly today I didn’t get outside for the mile walk as I had to spend the day at Dad’s as he wasn’t very good. However, I still managed to walk a mile around his house whilst looking after him. ❤️

Day 14 extra photo

Day 14

Monday 22nd Sep
Day 14
Today was the final day of Goodwood Revival and another 5 miles clocked up. Feet are starting to feel very tired now as the days are quite long and I spend quite a lot of it standing as well as walking. Had some more rain ☔️ again but we survived.
This photo shows most of my motley crew (missing are Shaun and Alan). A few years ago Alan organised t shirts for us all with ‘Bev’s Parc Ferme Minions’ on them 😂
On the back they say ‘If found please return to Bev’ 🤣🤣🤣

Day 13

Monday 22nd Sep
Day 13
Another day of marshalling at Goodwood Revival. 5 miles done today walking round Parc Ferme and the rest of the event. Today’s photo includes a friend of the Team, Alfie. He is an honorary member of the Parc Ferme Team. He is a kart racer who is doing extremely well and he loves Historic car racing. He is a lovely young man and we all adore him and his parents too. Whenever we see him he always brings us a box of chocolates as a thank you for us marshalling so that everyone can enjoy watching motorsport 🥰🚗🏎️🚙🏍️🏁

Day 12

Monday 15th Sep
Day 12
In my spare time I am a volunteer Marshal for motorsport 🚙🏎️. Today and the next 2 days I am marshalling at Goodwood Revival. This is an amazing event and great fun. At this event I run the team in Parc Ferme (where the cars go at the end of the race) 🏁. So the amount I walked today was 6 miles during the 13 hours I was working. I really enjoy this role and have a fabulous team. The weather wasn’t very kind to us and we did have some heavy rain ☔️ at times. Today’s photo is of me with my good friend and Marshal chum, Shaun.

Day 11

Thursday 11th Sep
Day 11
Today’s walk was a bit different to normal. It was an urban walk and even came across a fire engine 🚒 there was no fire luckily.

Day 10

Wednesday 10th Sep
Day 10
Can’t believe I’m already a third of the way through the challenge.
Today it was pouring down so it was on with full waterproofs and armed with a brolly ☂️ I set off.
I needed to go for this walk as I had met a friend for lunch and we had cake 🍰 as well as lunch. 😉

Day 9

Wednesday 10th Sep
Day 9
Today’s walk was whilst I was rushing around different shops etc but still did my mile. My t-shirt arrived and love it.🥰
Thank you to all those who have sponsored me. Really appreciate all the support.

Day 8

Wednesday 10th Sep
Day 8
Another walk not far from home. As it was a nice day I had my legs out 🌞🙈 😃

Day 7

Sunday 7th Sep
Day 7
A walk to the woods again. I stopped off at my oak tree to have a chat with Mum. I am doing this challenge as my Father has recently been assessed and diagnosed with Advanced Alzheimer’s.

Day 6

Sunday 7th Sep
Day 6.
Back to the woodlands for my walk. This included a visit to my favourite oak tree 🌳.
This tree is very special to me as it is where my daughter and I went the day my Mum died from cancer several years ago. It’s where I go to feel close to her. It has a very special energy.

Day 5

Sunday 7th Sep
Day 5. A bit different today. Did the walk in our local town centre with my Hubbie. We even picked up an iced coffee ☕️ too.

Day 4 photo

Sunday 7th Sep
Day 4
On the walk I was joined by a Digger . Sadly this is part of a large development nearby that used to be fields.

Day 1 photo
The first of many daily walks. Here’s to raising lots of money.

Days 1-4

Thursday 4th Sep
Day 1 woodland walk, sunny and warm.  People sponsoring me already.
Day 2 Torrential rain but that did not phase me at all after many years of working outside in all weathers.
Day 3 Woodland walk again but a blustery day. But got hit on the head by an acorn and saw 2 deer. 🦌 so all in all a good result. Have hit the £200 🎯 as well.
Day 4 Another fun walk but a bit cloudy.

Thank you to my Sponsors
