I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, I really do appreciate the donations and support.

I'm not just doing this walk to raise money for Dementia UK, I'm doing it to raise awareness too.
There are still far too many people who have little understanding of dementia and the challenges it brings. I'm no expert, but I hope my kind heart and willingness to understand make me a compassionate person, not only towards Doody but also towards the patients I care for at work.
You'd be surprised by how many people don't know how to communicate with someone living with dementia. They bombard them with questions, overload them with information, become impatient when they struggle to answer, laugh at their confusion, or speak to them without dignity or respect, and then act surprised when the person becomes angry and upset with them.
A little patience, kindness, and compassion can make a huge difference.
More needs to be done to challenge the ignorance and arrogance that people with dementia often face. They deserve understanding, respect, and dignity.

In June, I’m walking 60 miles to raise money for Dementia UK ❤️

As many of you know, our Doody (our Nan) is living with dementia. Watching someone you love slowly forget things, become confused, and change in ways you can’t control is heartbreaking. As one of her primary carers, I see the impact dementia has every single day  not just on Doody, but on all of us who love her.

Even through it all, she’s still our funny, cheeky, loving Doody, and that’s why this means so much to me.

Anyone who knows me knows this is definitely stepping me out of my comfort zone, but it feels like a small challenge compared to what families living with dementia face every day.

I’m doing this walk for Doody, for families going through the same thing, and to help raise awareness and support for a truly cruel illness.

If anyone would like to join me for part of a walk along the way, you’d be more than welcome  the company would be greatly appreciated! ❤️

Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to me and my family. Thank you for your support.
