Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

My lovely Mum was always on the go. Walking everywhere was just one of the many ways she kept herself active – I’d say she easily clocked up over 50 miles a month without even thinking about it.

That’s just one of the many things this cruel disease took away from her.

I, on the other hand, disgracefully don’t walk anywhere 🙈

So this month, to raise money in her memory for a very worthy cause, it feels only right that I do what she no longer can.

For some, walking daily and clocking up the miles won’t feel like a big challenge. For me, fitting it into everyday life will take a bit of juggling… but it will be so worth it.

If you’re able to sponsor me, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation will go to a truly important cause and will mean more to me than I can put into words.

Thank you so much for your support ❤️

I did it!

Final miles clocked off today 🥳 I did it! Had Joni with me this morning… not the most willing companion if I’m honest 😅 but a strategic hot chocolate stop on the way definitely helped. Motivation comes in many forms ☕️✨ A huge thank you to you all for your support — it’s meant more than you know 🙏

Last leg coming up

Thursday 29th Jan
So… after this morning’s walk I’m sitting on 48 miles exactly 🥳 I don’t think I’ll get chance to add any more before Saturday. The plan was to finish in Llandudno where I started, but sadly I’ve got a poorly boy who’s very generously shared his germs with me… and I’m feeling a bit crook too 😢 So it’s looking like I’ll be finishing my final miles here on Saturday morning instead. Not quite the ending I pictured, but the miles still count and I’m so close now I can almost taste it 💪 Onwards (with tissues and hot drinks at the ready) 💛

Frosty morning

Wednesday 14th Jan
Brrrr…. It was a cold one today. Got Asda and a visit to the vets ticked off this morning on my walk

School drop off morning walk

Tuesday 13th Jan
Back to it again today . Missed out a walk on Friday, Saturday and Monday but hoping this week I can make time to clock up some more miles.
A lot milder now and I got back home just before the rain started.

Sunday

Sunday 11th Jan
Squeezed in some solo steps this morning before Neil headed off to work 🌧️ Another 2.95 miles A bit soggy, but honestly the best kind of start — fresh air, quiet head, and that smug “I’ve already moved today” feeling. Rain counts as a bonus exfoliation, right? 😄

Short walk to the post office

Thursday 8th Jan
I would have usually jumped in the car… not quite a mile but it all adds up

Walk and shop

Thursday 8th Jan
Squeezed in an Asda shop on this morning’s walk… don’t know if that’s cheating but I was still walking… and the walk back was significantly weighted thanks to my rucksack full of shopping 😄🎒

3rd walk

Wednesday 7th Jan
Same route this morning but a very different walk. Instead of white crunchy snow I had slippery ice. Amazingly it didn’t slow me down though and I didn’t break a hip. Result

In the snow

Tuesday 6th Jan
Got another couple of miles ticked off after school drop off this morning

1st walk

Friday 2nd Jan
This felt like the perfect place to start 🩵 Kicking things off in Llandudno, strolling down the prom and back. I’d clearly forgotten how enthusiastic that sea breeze can be 🥶😂 — but it definitely blew the cobwebs away. 3 miles done, lungs refreshed, legs reminded who’s boss. Onwards we go 💪✨
