I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

In Support of Dementia with Lewy Bodies

I’ll be walking 100 miles this June for Dementia UK in support of my granny, who is living with Lewy body dementia (LBD). LBD is an incredibly cruel and complex illness that we had little to no experience with before it affected us directly. 

It's very different to Alzheimer's disease and a lot of research still needs to go into the care and management of LBD. Awareness of LBD is also very low with many people never hearing of this disease, or making the presumption that it's the same as Alzheimer's.

My granny is my best friend and someone I can't imagine my life without. Although we still have many good days, it's been heartbreaking to witness how this illness has stolen her independence from her and the daily distress and confusion she faces from the symptoms of it.  I want to help raise funds for care and research into dementia, as well as raise awareness of Lewy Body Dementia.
