I'm walking 62 Miles in October for Dementia UK

This October, I'm walking 62 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone.  I am raising funds for Dementia UK – a cause close to my heart, because my mum suffers from Dementia and I know how physically and emotionally draining dementia is for the the patient and the family, you lose your loved one slowly one day at a time. My mum often don't recognise me, she was a teacher now doesn't even remember her own signature. Her osteoporosis has worsened because of dementia, she is completely bed bound for over 3 years. There is so much I can write here about how I am helplessly watching my mother slowly stop being the real person she once was. one who looked after everyone can't look after herself in any way. There are 1000's like me slowly loosing there their loved ones.

Just £10 could pay for the telephone costs of two families calling its free Dementia Helpline, so your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Dementia is devastating!

Saturday 12th Sep
A few years back I met one of my childhood friends, we asked about our families and each other's parents and he said mums developed dementia and "F dementia" at that time I had no idea what dementia was. Fast forward a few years my mum has it too and now I understand why he said that.

Many people still don't know what dementia is,  and how devastating it is for the whole family.

Someone once said that Dementia is worse than Cancer and I never understood but now I do.

It is a huge test for the person who suffers from it slowly losing themselves, but it's a bigger test for those who are around. In Cancer the cancer patient suffers from it, but in dementia the whole family goes through it.

Be patient and educate yourself about it as soon as a loved one is diagnosed with it. Dementia UK is doing a brilliant job please donate to support their work.
