I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Dementia UK 30 Mile Challenge Update

Tuesday 22nd Sep

🐾❤️ Dementia UK 30 Mile Challenge Update ❤️🐾

Dolly and I recently escaped for a few days away and made the most of it by clocking up plenty of miles for my Dementia UK 30 Mile Challenge.

Our daily totals were:

✅ Friday 11 September – 3.59 miles
✅ Saturday 12 September – 3.18 miles
✅ Sunday 13 September – 2.10 miles (despite the wet and windy weather!)
✅ Monday 14 September – 4.55 miles
✅ Tuesday 15 September – 2.03 miles
✅ Wednesday 16 September – 7.32 miles
✅ Thursday 17 September – 4.85 miles
✅ Friday 18 September – 2.67 miles

Dolly absolutely loved exploring the coastal paths and walking along the beautiful sandy beaches. She even plucked up the courage to run into the sea, which was lovely to watch! 🐕🌊

Since returning home to Chippenham, we've continued the challenge with:

✅ Saturday 19 September – 2.39 miles
✅ Sunday 20 September – 2.27 miles
✅ Tuesday 22 September – 2.44 miles

Our total miles walked so far is 60.04!

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged and sponsored us so far. Every mile walked helps raise awareness and funds for Dementia UK, a charity that provides invaluable support to families affected by dementia.

We're keeping those paws and walking boots moving! 🐾🥾💙

Day 1 - Allison & Dolly

Tuesday 1st Sep

Today marks the beginning of my Dementia UK 30‑mile walk challenge, and I couldn’t have asked for a better start. This morning, Dolly and I headed out for our first walk — a gentle, steady 2.67 miles to kick things off. She trotted along happily, sniffing every interesting blade of grass, while I took a moment to appreciate why I’m doing this challenge in the first place.

Dementia affects so many families, and the support that Dementia UK provides through their specialist Admiral Nurses is genuinely life‑changing. Their work helps people feel less alone, more supported, and more able to cope with the day‑to‑day realities of dementia. That’s why every mile matters. Every step counts. And every donation makes a real difference.

I’m proud of this first little milestone — 2.67 miles down, many more to go — and I’m even more grateful for the kindness people have already shown. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, I’m now just £43 away from reaching my fundraising goal.

If you’re able to help me close that final gap, even with a small donation, it would mean the world. Your support keeps me motivated, keeps Dolly’s tail wagging, and most importantly, helps Dementia UK continue their incredible work.

Thank you for reading, thank you for cheering me on, and thank you for supporting a cause that touches so many lives.

Why I'm Walking 30 Miles in September

Saturday 22nd Aug
t’s official — Dolly and I are taking on 30 miles this September for Dementia UK!
This year, I’m walking for someone incredibly special — my sister, whose dementia has slowly taken away the person she once was. Watching that happen has been heartbreaking, and it’s why this challenge means so much to me.
Dolly’s already practising her “I deserve a treat for this” face, and I’m getting ready to clock up the miles for a charity that supports families living through the reality of dementia every single day.
I’d love your support. Every donation, big or small, helps
Dementia UK provide specialist nurses who make an enormous difference to families like mine.
If you can spare anything at all, we’d be so grateful 💙
