I'm swimming for Dementia UK

I'm taking on a 30-Day Swimming Challenge to swim 20km in 30 days throughout June 26.
I will be taking on the challenge for Dementia UK in memory of my Nanny Thelma who was a total legend and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference, so if you can support I would be most grateful.

Thank you, Alison x

My Updates

I DID IT!

Sunday 28th Jun
At the start of this week I had 240 lengths to do and thought I would need my buffer days, however as I was away the weekend watching Lewis Capaldi I cracked on and did 240 in 4 swims, meaning I have completed my challenge with a few days to spare. It has definitely  been harder than I thought it would be.  Wanting to go for a swim and having to, are 2 different things.  But I have got quicker and I am hoping I continue with at least 3 swims a week.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, and if there is anyone out there who has been meaning to but has not had the chance to, it's not too late..... and hopefully I will get my total over £400 and  doubled my goal.  Love and kisses Alison x

End of week push

Sunday 21st Jun
Had to drag myself out of bed this morning.  Good job I did, as it quietened off near the end and I cracked on to do a personal best of 80 lengths!!! I am currently at 14km with 6km, 6000 metres or 240 lengths to go.  I am away next weekend and so I am more than likely going to have to use my buffer days of the 29th and 30th to complete the challenge X on the home run .... Sorry swim 😀

Pulling it back

Saturday 20th Jun
Started this week on Monday with a solid 60 lengths.  Thursday morning was planned for 40, but because it was so quiet in the p00l I cracked on and did another 60! It meant I was late logging into work, but they completely support what I am doing , so all good.  Friday was a busy day,  sow lane was fully booked so back in the middle lane , which makes me work harder and another 4o done.  Thanks again for everyone's support 🥰

Pulled it half back

Monday 15th Jun
i did manage to do 40 on Friday lunchtime and completed 60 on Sunday, hitting the pool at 8am! I am 40 lengths behind in my plan, due to the little prick, but have 2 buffer days at the end of June if needed.  Thanks for all of your continued support x

COVID JAB stops me swimming

Friday 12th Jun
I had a COVID jab Tues, and I have felt like pants, so I have been unable to do my planned swims.  Hoping to do a small one today and 60 on Sunday, but it does mean that I am now on catch up x

Swim No 5

Monday 8th Jun
A surprising quiet morning at the pool, made the 60 lengths, 1500 metres or 1.5 km enjoyable 😁

Sunday 7th Swim 4

Sunday 7th Jun
Another assault course day in the pool so I decamped to the medium lane for a bit and swam with the big kids.  60 lengths, 1500 metres or 1.5 km.  Finishing week 1 on track with 200 lengths, 5000 metres or .5km  x

Fri 5th swim 3

Saturday 6th Jun
Well Friday was an up out swim and into work day.  It was busy in the lanes so a bit like an assault course, but did the 40 lengths I aimed for.  That's another 1000metres or 1 km, so chipping away

Day 2 and Swim 2

Tuesday 2nd Jun
Up and out before work this morning. Far too many people in the slow lane to make it an enjoyable swim.  Lots of start/stops.  But I got to my goal of 40.  That's 1000 metres or 1km.  I will not be able to go tomorrow but I will be body jamming in the evening 😍

Swim 1 complete

Monday 1st Jun
Day 1 and swim 1 of the challenge.  I have not swam since me holibobs so knew it was going to be a slog, and I was like swimming through treacle, but I got through it.  60 lengths, 1500 metres or 1.5km 💪 bring it on

Pre Swim

Saturday 30th May
When in hols last week, I spent every day in the pool, so when I saw this pop up on FB I thought "I can do that".  Now I am back to work, rehearsing for a play and prepping for a new kitchen I am starting to think when will I have the time.  But I have a cunning plan and aim to swim 4 times a week.  I will keep you updated on how I getv on, Alison x
