I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

The reason

The reason ... I am doing this to support all the families and patients who are living with dementia. 

I saw this disease absolutley crumble the person my grandad was and turn him into nothing but a shell. My Grandad, the amazing man on my profile picture was always so brilliant if not a bit pedantic, one thing he wasnt was forgetful so when this started I knew something was wrong. From the start to his passing it took 11 years for dementia to strip my grandad of his values, morals and overall his personality.

Watching this happen to him was heart breaking and when he passed it was difficult to not be able to say goodbye as he ended up non verbal and unable to stand or sit independently.

This cruel disease took my grandad from us before his body was ready to let go, the hardest part was looking in his eyes and not seeing them twinkle, it was like staring into nothing. He'd gone, we knew he'd gone years before he passed, covid made this worse as those precious moments where he could speak we were unable to share with him.
