I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Why I’m doing this!

Monday 25th May
I’m raising money for Dementia UK because this disease has touched my life in the most painful ways. In August 2024, I lost my dad, Ronnie, after several years of watching dementia slowly take him from us. In the end, he no longer knew my mum, my brother and me, or his grandkids,  something no family should ever have to experience.

Dementia runs in my family, with several of my uncles also falling to it. More recently, my close friend Alex lost his dad, Norrie, another proud father and grandfather taken too soon. And here in Kilwinning, we’ve seen the impact again with the passing of Jim Fleeting, a local football legend and another victim of this terrible disease.

The truth is simple:
Dementia reaches into thousands of families, and you never know when it might reach into yours.

That’s why I’m supporting Dementia UK , to raise awareness, to raise a few pounds, and to do something, however small, that might help another family facing what mine has faced.

If you can donate…..  no matter how large or small, it genuinely makes a difference.

It funds specialist nurses, supports families in crisis, and helps people navigate one of the hardest journeys any family can go through.

If you’ve ever lost someone to dementia, if you know someone who’s struggling, or if you simply want to help protect families in the future, please consider supporting this cause.

Every pound helps. Every share helps. Every bit of awareness helps.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring.

For my dad. For Norrie. For Jim. For every family fighting this battle.
