Wellingborough town football club

Fans vs Dementia

Mission complete

7 days time

At the heart of grassroots football is more than just the game – it’s about community, teamwork, and giving back. That spirit is shining brightly at Wellingborough Town Football Club, where our dedicated coaches are lacing up their walking boots and preparing for a charity walk to raise money and awareness for Dementia UK. 💙
More Than Just Coaches
Week in and week out, our coaches give their time to help develop young players both on and off the pitch. From training sessions in the rain to matchday motivation, they are always there pushing the team forward. Now, they’re taking that same determination beyond the football field for a cause that touches so many families across the country.
Walking for a Cause
The upcoming charity walk is part of the club’s effort to support Dementia UK, an organisation that provides specialist nurses and support to families facing the challenges of dementia. For many people, dementia is something that has affected a loved one, and this walk is a chance for our club community to stand together and make a difference.
Preparing for the Challenge
In between training sessions and weekend fixtures, the coaches have been preparing themselves for the walk. It’s not just about covering the miles—it’s about showing the same resilience, teamwork, and commitment they encourage in their players every week.
The initiative has already sparked fantastic support from parents, players, and the wider football family, with many pledging donations and cheering the coaches on as they take on the challenge.
A Club That Cares
Moments like this show what grassroots football is truly about. Yes, it’s about goals, tackles, and victories—but it’s also about people coming together for something bigger than the game.
As the coaches get ready to take their first steps on this charity walk, they carry with them the support of the entire Wellingborough Town community. Every step they take will help raise funds and awareness for those living with dementia and the families who support them.

We're taking on Fans vs Dementia

During the course of 90 minutes, 30 people in the UK will develop dementia.

We're taking Fans vs Dementia and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

£19 could pay for the telephone costs of five families calling our free Helpline whenever they need support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!
