💜 In Loving Memory of Dad – Walking for Dementia UK

October 14th would have been Dad’s 90th birthday. He so nearly reached another beautiful milestone that we would have loved to celebrate with him. While he isn’t here to walk beside us, we are walking in his honour — just as he did every single day until his health no longer allowed it.

Our fondest memory of Dad is his undisputed daily walk to Edmonton Green. Rain or shine, nothing could keep him from it. When dementia took away that simple but cherished routine, we knew how much he missed it.

None of us could have imagined what life after his diagnosis would look like. Dementia doesn’t just change the person you love — it changes the lives of everyone who loves them. That’s why the work of Dementia UK is so vital. Their support helps families and carers find strength, guidance, and hope in the face of this life-changing illness.

We walk for Dad — to celebrate his legacy, his resilience, and what would have been his 90th birthday. If our steps can bring comfort and support to even one more family navigating dementia, we know Dad would be proud.

This October, we're walking 62 miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. We are taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £10 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
