Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support. I helped my mum through her Dementia journey and I'm doing the same for my dad 💜🧡

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

Mum & dad & Dementia 🧡💜

Monday 29th Dec
Both my mum & dad were diagnosed with mixed dementia in 2020, right at the start of the pandemic. I cared for my mum ( with my sisters helping) since her diagnosis. It was a lonely time due to covid restrictions 😢She had complex needs & as a family had to make the decision to admit her into a care home in 2022.  She was looked after well, but sadly after only 6 months, she passed away in Oct 2022. I'm now caring for my dad, his journey is very different, more manageable (majority of the time ) He's still at home, he has some other health issues, and the family want him to remain at home for as long as possible. I'm walking the 50 miles in January for me, to give me more reflection time. But also for my mum & dad. They were amazing parents & grandparents and I want to give something back. There needs to be a cure found, you grieve twice for someone with dementia or Altzeimers 🧡💜🤗❤️

Your mum was a tremendous human being. She got me my first job at Diageo. Supported me during my early years at the playing bowls. I had the pleasure of playing Joseph in the clubs version of technicolour dreamcoat Isabel was Zuleika, we had one scene which we laughed about for many many years after. A wonderful lady and a bloody guid booler.
