I'm making Time for a Cuppa
By the time you've made your brew, another person will have developed dementia. I'm going to bake, brew and raise vital funds for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £21 could pay for the telephone costs of four families calling our free Helpline whenever they need support. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support. I am really grateful for any support you can give.
Thank you!

Why Familiarity is the Best Medicine

Our Approach to Dementia Care at Honeysuckle Home Care
For many families, a dementia diagnosis brings a wave of uncertainty. Questions about safety, quality of life, and many questions about their loved one’s future. How do we provide the best support while respecting our loved one's independence?
At Honeysuckle Home Care, we believe the answer lies in the heart of the home. Based in Royal Wootton Bassett, our family-run team is dedicated to proving that with the right support, individuals living with dementia can continue to lead fulfilling, dignified, independent lives in the surroundings they know and love.
Continuity is Key
One of the greatest challenges of dementia is the confusion caused by change. That is why our approach is built on continuity.
Dedicated Teams: We match clients with a consistent team of carers and a dedicated Client Relations Officer (CRO). This builds a foundation of trust and familiarity that is vital for reducing anxiety.
Routine & Reassurance: Our careers are expertly trained to understand that "care" isn't just a checklist of tasks; it’s about gentle routines, patience, and providing a calm, reassuring presence.
Personalised Support, Not Just a Package
No two journeys with dementia are the same. Our "Good" CQC rating reflects our commitment to truly personalised care plans. Whether it is 30-minute check-ins or full-time live-in care, we adapt to the individual’s needs, focusing on:
Meaningful Engagement: From sharing a cup of tea to mental stimulation through conversation and hobbies.
Physical Wellbeing: Managing medication, nutrition, and mobility to prevent falls and infections.
Holistic Support: We don’t just care for the client; we support the family, offering respite and peace of mind during what can be an emotionally taxing time.
We know that for many of you reading this, you aren’t just "looking for a service." You are likely exhausted. You might be grieving for the person who is still standing right in front of you or feeling the heavy weight of "carer’s guilt" for even thinking about asking for help.
Caring for someone with dementia is uniquely difficult because it is unpredictable. You may experience:
The "Double Grief": Mourning the loss of a loved one's memory and personality while they are still physically present.
The 24/7 Mental Load: The constant hyper-vigilance—listening for a footfall in the night or worrying about a stove left on.
Emotional Fatigue: The heartbreak of a loved one not recognizing you, or the frustration of answering the same question for the tenth time in an hour.
At Honeysuckle, we see you. We know that by the time a family reaches out to us, they have often been running on empty for months. Our role isn't to take over your place in their life, but to carry the weight of the "tasks" so you can go back to being a daughter, a son, or a spouse again. You don’t have to set your own life aside to prove your love.
Why We Step In
Our team doesn't just provide clinical support; we provide an emotional buffer. By stepping in to handle the complexities of daily care, we give families the space to simply be together.
"The greatest gift we can give a family is the ability to enjoy a cup of tea together without the stress of the 'to-do' list hanging over them." — The Honeysuckle Team
