The 36 Hole Challenge

I'm doing The 36 Hole Challenge for Dementia UK

I’m taking on The 36 Hole Challenge and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Swinging for a Cause: Our 72-Hole Golf Challenge for Dementia UK

In August, my best mate Jay and I are taking on an epic challenge: playing 72 holes of golf in a single day to raise funds and awareness for Dementia UK. That’s right—two lots of the Dementia I'm 36 holes challenge in one day, back-to-back, to push our limits and support a cause that’s close to our hearts. We’re asking for your support, whether it’s a donation, a share, or a cheer, to help us make a difference in the fight against dementia.

Why Dementia UK?
Dementia is a devastating disease that affects not just those diagnosed but entire families. It creeps in, stealing memories, independence, and the ability to connect with loved ones. Imagine watching someone you love—a parent, grandparent, or partner—slowly fade, struggling to recognize faces, recall cherished moments, or even carry out simple daily tasks. The emotional toll on families is heartbreaking, as they navigate the pain of losing someone who is still physically present. And it’s not just an “old age” issue—dementia can strike earlier than we think, and its impact ripples through generations.
Dementia UK’s vital research and support services are a lifeline. Their work funds groundbreaking studies to better understand dementia, improve treatments, and, one day, find a cure. This research doesn’t just help our elderly loved ones today—it’s an investment in our own futures, ensuring that when we reach that age, we have better options and hope. Their Admiral Nurses also provide essential support to families, offering guidance and care to those navigating this cruel disease.

The Challenge: 72 Holes of Grit and Determination
Jay and I aren’t professional golfers, but we’re passionate about this cause and ready to push ourselves to the limit. Playing 72 holes in one day is no small feat—it’s roughly 20 miles of walking, hours of focus, and countless swings, all while battling physical and mental fatigue. We’ll be tackling this challenge at a yet TBD golf course in the north west, starting at the crack of dawn and playing through until we sink that final putt. It’s going to be grueling, but it’s nothing compared to the challenges faced by those living with dementia and their families.

Why This Matters
Every penny we raise will go directly to Dementia UK, supporting their mission to provide hope and care. The funds will help advance research that could slow or prevent dementia, ensuring future generations—ourselves included—face a brighter outlook. They’ll also support families who are grappling with the disease right now, offering them practical and emotional support through Dementia UK’s incredible services.
Dementia doesn’t discriminate, and neither should our efforts to fight it. By supporting our challenge, you’re helping to ease the burden on families today and paving the way for a future where dementia’s grip is loosened.

How You Can Help
